Lunar, we are in the same boat regarding sleep patterns. Â I nod right out but tend to awake between 2 and 3am. Â For me, nothing works better than 5mg of Zolpidem at that point to complete a night's sleep and awaken well rested without any side effects.
There are OTC remedies available including Melatonin, Diphenhydramine, and Doxylamine Succinate but none of them worked well for me... each a little too altering in an unfavorable way.
Whilst not technically sleep aids, Magnesium Citrate and 5-HTP are agreeable, with the former producing lucid dreams and the latter promoting a positive mood. Â Both are without contraindications and are affordable and easily obtained locally.
Perhaps others will chime in with what has worked well for them?
