And following on directly from Fireplaces' post above - Audrey, Italy! I am green with envy and want to hide out in your suitcase and come too! Actually, I have no reason for envy as we have Europe on our doorstep here; I lived on the outskirts of Paris for ten years (the wonderful European Union, that the UK is now going to take a vote to possibly leave - we are idiots) and from that place, my ex and I used to drive all round Italy, southern France and sometimes Spain each summer, sometimes booking a place to stay, other times just winging it. Even from here, it is so easy to hop across to France and so quick to fly to Italy. For that I am very grateful. Audrey, I hope you have a fabulous time and that the Venice weather is kind to you (oddly, as Venice is one of my dream destinations, I have never been there - my ex had had a bad experience there and wasn't willing to repeat it).
Fire, I am so glad your daughter's troubles have settled down and yes, she is so smart for not jumping back in with these girls in a huge wash of relief. Long may it last.
Insomnia, I am so sorry to hear you were bullied. It is absolutely incredible how many of us were bullied at school - if you took a straw poll here, I bet we would find a huge number of people who were. Luckily these days, most schools have a reasonably robust bullying policy but I know plenty of examples where that just hasn't counted for much when things got rough. Being the victim of bullies can haunt us for life - big hugs to you, IS, here's hoping you have managed to leave it behind you. It took me decades to do so, decades.
I just went to feed my three remaining cats. I took a book off the shelf and did a sort of drum roll on it, intending to announce that they had all won a car as I handed out the food - unfortunately all but one ran away. Epic failure. I think everyone who has animals should now try this and see if any of us has cats who can stand the limelight!
