Daily Thoughts, Random Thoughts, Venting Area

My old issue canvas duffel bag (still has my RA number and name / rank stenciled on it), which my wife has sewed perfect waterproof pockets into for my favorite AR-15, my favorite over/under double-barreled 12 gauge shotgun, my Ruger GP-100, a Glock 17 semi-auto 9mm, and a Taurus copy of the venerable Beretta M-9.  The duffel bag also carries 500 meters of 550 cord and a shelter half and poncho liner.

Still have my old LCE & web belt with a pistol holster for my most favored and accurate JP Sauer & Sohns .357 Magnum revolver, a compass pouch, a combat / survival knife and sheathe not commercially available, but only presented to select graduates of the Fort Benning School for Wayward Youth, ammo pouches to hold a few speed loaders (the majority of the ammunition, shotgun shells, and full magazines for all the weapons is stored in my ruck, the duffel bag, and the Alice pack (a smaller version of a standard ruck that requires no frame) that my wife has packed with her needs. and will carry herself, its weight is manageable and it does not wear on the hips like a ruck with a frame does.  Her pack also carries a shelter half and 200 meters of 550 cord, allowing for all manner of shelter constructions if one knows how to tie the knots.

Over-doing it?  Perhaps.  But it is reassuring to have those three bags packed and readily available, one just never knows.
Dang Back2,
That's quite an arsenal.  I only want to get one, and have looked at the Taurus revolver for price and reliability.  If you only had one pistol, does that sound like a reasonable choice?  Yeah, was introduced to the idea of a "bug out" bag from a Wernor Herzog special on the South Pole, a scientific outpost there.  The cook there had a bug out bag, and had been everywhere.  Said he could be ready to go anywhere, anytime, in 15 minutes.  If I'm stuck in the RV of course I have everything from breath mints to an oversize pipe wrench, dremel set.  I'm set, but would still like to equip a bug out bag.

Oh, you can just PM me if you have time to offer an opinion Back.  Don't want to turn this into a weapons thread.
