How to get your doctor to add the Benzos you need?

I agree with Harley.  Doctors, as a general rule, don't like patients telling them what meds they should receive and good chance the doctor will see this as 'drug-seeking' behavior - even if you do really need it legitimately.  Demanding meds may offend the doctor and cost a patient big time.

Chickenzilla, wish you luck on that triazolam.  My old doctor used to prescribe that med intermittently when I had long bouts of insomnia, but I haven't been able to find a doctor who will prescribe that for long time.  Newer doctors often seem unfamiliar with it.
As you know, where we can even find it online is limited. 
I also have PTSD, panic attacks, social anxiety, and all that goes with it (nightmares, flashbacks, feeling so terrible you can't describe it)
Do you practice any alternative methods of controlling your anxiety?  Music, for example, really helps me.  Meditation does too.
Of course, nothing stops the panic attacks, can't change "self-talk" or anything to stop those and doctors admit that to me.
Maybe with doctors, focus on debilitating parts of your anxiety such as panic attacks which interfere with your ability to function in life, rather than how you feel. 
I don't think they care how we feel anymore.  

Doctors want a clear cut set of symptoms they can easily diagnose & treat.  They don't want complicated these days, no time for it (or patients who annoy them) and unfortunately doctors/govt are in charge over us.

Think presentation.  When I went for S.S.D. doctors (due to my permanent work injury disability) they had me see medical doctor but also the psychiatrist.   All I can say is after I saw SSD psychiatrist, when I went to my doctor appt next month- he upped my alps to 4x/day and I had not said one word...  I believe he read the SSD report from their doctors.  Something he read from psychiatrist made him increase my meds...  This was just few yrs ago. 


Anxiety is horrible.  My heart goes out to all who have problems with it.

Yes I do have alternative therapy.. And that thing is walking over 3 miles everyday at my local lake.. I come back home much more relaxed and I feel a lot better. It's interesting I take Adderall and Subutex for the many years now and they mean nothing to me, but I see they mean A LOT to others.. then others have benzos that mean nothing to them and I'm sitting here wishing I could trade places!



I have mentioned to my doctor about my IOP.. The doctor I'm seeing is an addiction specialist. ( interesting i know considering all the meds he gives me are controlled) But we have a deep history.. And even a direct link to an outside event. In short my best friend died from some H I helped him get awhile ago even though I wasn't doing it I felt like it was only 10 dollars worth and hed be fine and he had naloxone on hand that I gave him ( a vial I have about 5 of them from the harm prevention clinic I go to to help others ) 

 Anyway, my friend died, and his father coincidently knew the doctor I used to see back in 07-10 and the father wanted me to see him,  well when i was at the eulogy for my friend I met him and I didn't even recognize him and he asked he if id been treated and I said yes by doctor xyz, and he said .. wait how do you spell that? X Y Z .. OMG it's you!! We were both taken aback ( he had to kick me out of his practice back then because I kept relapsing, also back then he RX'd Temazepam, Ativan, Kpins all in in the medium dose range, plus 60mg adderall IR and Subs lol. 

So a little time went by and by now I was already consistently having to resort to IOP's because I can't afford a psych and no psych would give me benzos with my record, but i knew he would.. I talked to the mother of my friend.. who he also knew.. and eventually I was able to see him.. He see's me for free.. He's very nice and understanding but he keeps his distance because he knows i have the ability to reel people in( I don't do it in a malicious way) He's aware I that I have a good heart but a muddied conscience.. 

So that's some background on the doctor.. I already talked to him it once and I wrote an email about 7 days ago saying that please note in your file for future reference that my anxiety is now unbearable.

My sincere conviction at this moment is to not blank out my memory, but if were going to use Clonazepam(benzos etc)  than why not actually do it right. At least 2mg x2 a day kpin and 2mg x 2 a day alpz, or Valium.. One benzo I can't tolerate which I used to think was okay, is ativan, stuff is disgusting, it makes me dizzy and uneasy.. very odd.. Anyway I've told him directly on 3 separate visits that no matter what.. I will take these medications.. you can help me legally administer them and work with me so I don't self medicate or you can tolerate that I have to find them else where. I asked for AlPs already, so now im thinking of asking to adjunct my Kpins with valium in the evening. or something?!!? 

I will never go in there with a positive opiate UA I promised him.. I think that's what worries him the most, if he does RX them and I happen to relapse.. Well from my history I can promise you guys and him that wont happen because of my ridiculous tolerance and well I don't even like opiates anymore( really turned off by them since they killed my best friend + my involvement.

I'm sorry for the personal blog post!!  Also yes I'm in rehab and have been for the last 4 years I go once a week. My body is weird.. I'm not kidding you when I say i stopped Subutex on june 1st 2015 and it wasn't out of my system till 45 days later.. amazing huh? So amazing that they didn't believe me till day 30 when they could clearly see I wasn't using anything. 

Anyway, I'm going to see the doctor in 15 days and I'll report back to this thread.. I'm also thinking of mentioning Serax maybe as a background benzo to add with my Kpin. I really wish there were some other fast acting benzos out there like xanax.. I mean I can think of many but none of them seem reasonable that he would think are conservative.. As Kpins are a pretty conservative benzo as it is.. maybe he could just raise the dose on that? AGH..


Thanks guys! I will keep walking as my other medication.. I'm in my low 30's and I am happy about the summer and all the girls are out.. And not to sound conceited but I'm considered handsome and that is my only other joy in life.. my love for the ladies!      When I walk by them and they smile, well lets just say thats like a really good high..
