I agree you want a sunscreen that blocks both uva and uvb. I don't agree you should not use them at all, its a matter of comparative risk. The fact they did not find evidence that sunscreen prevented cancer means little. Cancer takes years to develop, perhaps decades in many cases. How long a period did they look at? The chemicals in sunscreen may not be the best thing for us but so far our wonderful fda says they are safe. Not that I believe them on everything but thats what they say.
If you don't use sunscreen you get sun damage to your skin, this has been proven many times and is not controversial. So are you better off not using it and getting a for sure dose of uv or should you use a good sunscreen and hope the protection given is worth the cost? I say use the sunscreen but look around and make wise choices.
