Man... I used that "Banana Boat" stuff... Then switched to "Baby oil"... No protection from the sun, but man what a tan! In the 70's and 80's I practically LIVED at the beach either Galveston or a place close to a store called "Swedes" ... They called that part of the coast "The Zoo" (we were animals I tell ya) ...

Only been burnt once and then it never hurt.. Just peeled like all get out...

But who would have thought that the stuff our good ole USA had approved for, not only us, but our kids would be the stuff causing the cancer!!

Ice, like you as a kid I used baby oil to intensify the tan.  We would even put "iodine" in small amounts in the baby oil, then shake it well, before applying it.  Had a lady friend who was an oncologist.  She liked to garden, and, as someone suggested she never went outside without long sleeves, and a straw hat that covered half the block.
