1954: Elvis Presley made his first major recording at Sun Studios in Memphis with Scotty Moore and Billy Black recording “That’s All Right”.

1966: Chas Chandler of The Animals attended a Jimi Hendrix concert at Café Wha? in New York City at the suggestion of Keith Richards’ girlfriend. Chandler suggested to Hendrix that he should come to the U.K., which he would shortly and Chandler became his manager.

1968: Creedence Clearwater Revival released their self-titled debut album which went on to peak at number fifty-two on the Billboard 200 Album Chart and sell one million copies in the U.S.

1969: The Who and Chuck Berry co-headlined the Pop Proms at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

1969: The Rolling Stones performed a free concert, their first concert with new guitarist Mick Taylor at London’s Hyde Park before a crowd of 250,000

1995: The Justice Department announced that it would be dropping its investigation of antitrust charges brought on against Ticketmaster by Pearl Jam.

2005: Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, who’s seen Pink Floyd’s record sales go up after Live 8 suggested that all other Live 8 performers donate their royalties to charity.
