A St. Paul man was sentenced to 15 years of supervised probation Tuesday for the sexual assault of a 17-year-old neighbor.

Jesus Medina, also known as Genero Morales, 43, also received a stayed three-year prison sentence. He pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct in June, amended from first-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping charges.

According to the criminal complaint, the girl told police she was walking to her sister’s house on Magnolia Avenue in February 2015 when two men grabbed her by the hair and pulled her into a car.

When she tried to escape, they punched her.

And when she tried to use her cellphone, they threw it out the window, the charges said.

The girl also told police that they eventually stopped at a house, where the men dragged her upstairs. The passenger left and the driver, Medina, stayed and beat her into unconsciousness before raping her, according to the complaint.

A DNA sample from her sexual assault kit matched a DNA sample obtained from Medina after a prior conviction.

When the girl picked Medina out of a photo lineup, she recognized him as an acquaintance of a brother-in-law who had rented a room downstairs.

Medina must also register as a predatory offender.

Opinion

If this had happened to my daughter, I'd be the one on trial... I have absolutely NO pity for anyone that rapes... Being that is a child, only angers me more...
