The CQC seem to assume you have a GP who knows you quite well - that's just not the case for most people. I was speaking to an NHS consultant and registrar a few weeks ago and they were saying how ten years ago the concept of "your GP" made more sense, but not any more. And I know from experience that even on the rare occasions where it is possible to see the same GP I've dealt with before, you then find they've been replaced by a locum. (In my case the locum messed around all three of my prescriptions to the extent a hospital had to issue me emergency supplies!)
Go getting back to the situation with this IOP, I guess the CQC are attempting to stop people doubling up. But the result is that a load of people will either end up in pain, or forced to seek alternative supplies (which probably won't be from the UK!).
