Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day



Cheating on your partner is not the exciting experience it’s presented as in the movies, even if it may seem so at first. Infidelity destroys relationships, usually making it impossible for the person cheated on to ever trust the cheater with his or her heart again. It tears parents away from their children, leaving the latter feeling betrayed, deserted and undeserving of attention and love.

Cheating can also become something of an addiction, causing the cheater to continue to ruin one relationship after another with his or her infidelity and never find true happiness. Still, despite all of these terrible consequences and many more, millions of people the world over continue to cheat on their significant others each year. Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day was created to help people understand just how badly infidelity affects all of those involved.

The History of Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day

The History of Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day was created by Christina Ferguson, a graduate of Hampton University and a member of the American Psychological Association, Learning Disabilities Association of America, and National Association of Self-Esteem. Christina founded Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day after having herself gone through several traumatic events in her relationships because she knew she was not alone in her experiences and wanted others in similar situations to unite and overcome their personal tragedies.

In Christina’s own words:

“The vision for Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day is to bring this topic front and center and to shed light on such devastating behavior. It is disturbing to hear about the number of relationships that infidelity has impacted and even more frustrating to witness how acceptable this behavior has become. The goal of Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day is to standup against infidelity. This movement challenges us to look into the heart of the matter.”

In short, the mission is to eradicate normalizing and promoting infidelity as an acceptable and notable behavior by bringing awareness to the emotional and psychological consequences experienced by individuals, children, families, and communities; to offer encouragement and support to those who might suffer in silence as they rebuild their lives and relationships.

Wildfire Community Preparedness Day



A wildfire is a difficult to contain and especially devastating kind of fire which occurs in the countryside, or in a forest area. Without the proper containment, they can destroy miles of forestland, scorch hundreds of trees, and drive wild animals from their homes.

As you might expect, heavily wooded areas are susceptible to burning when exposed to open flames – especially in the hotter, dryer climates of the world.

Wildfires can occur for a number of reasons, but they tend to occur alongside natural events such as lightning strikes and volcanic eruptions. Wildfires have also been known to start from the sparks which may appear when rocks fall in landslides or from cliff faces.

That said, in areas frequented by humans, wildfires can also be started by discarded cigarettes, sparks from work equipment, or simply arsonists.

This day of observance seeks to educate us on how to prevent these devastating fires from lighting up in the first place, and how to act if on does appear to be starting up.

The History of Wildfire Community Preparedness Day

Wildfires have been around since before our recorded history, but with the growth of human presence in some areas, it is becoming more and more of an issue.
Careless campers throwing away lit cigarettes may be the tiny spark needed to set off a roaring blaze, or simply the sparks from woodworking machinery or fuel spillages in the undergrowth could set things alight.

Because the effects of wildfires can be devastating, the National Fire Protection Association put this day in the calendar to get the community together and make all the right moves to prevent them.

1965: Keith Richards said he fell asleep in a Clearwater, FL hotel room & woke up discovering he’d composed the riff of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” on his tape recorder.

1937: The Hindenburg airship crashes, killing 36 people in New Jersey. A photograph from this incident would later be used as cover art for Led Zeppelin’s first album.
