I had something similar. A friend who was a literal mess when I met her - I saved her job, helped her thru severe drug addiction (not related to an issue) - just severe recreational drug use to the point she was taking Oxy. Married & divorced a few losers and I still stuck by her. Then she hooked up with an old sweetheart who now is LOADED. Dumped her husband, married the rich guy, flip-flopped 100% on her political affiliation (was left leaning but new hubby is rich from fracking) and she now has a whole new circle of friends. I'm not one of them. She half-heartedly pretends to try to include me sometimes but it doesn't feel sincere.
So I get it mr. somebody! I helped someone thru many years of her life, saved her job on multiple occasions but now that she has money - I'm no longer needed and in such a short period of time. It's quite a kick in the ass.
OTH, I have a former boss who has done more for me than anyone and I could pick up the phone right now and ask him for anything he had and he would gladly give it to me.
