FWIW, here in the US, it seems as if psychiatrists are the most informed and open-minded about scripting benzos.

In some parts of the US it is very difficult to book an appointment with a psychiatrist, most in my area are treating children with ADHD and people with profound mental illness, like suicidal depression, psychosis etc.. They seem to have no time for the panic attack, anxiety disorder types, or are interested in prescribing some awful mood stabilizer, in my limited experience.

I don't do anti depressants either and I get irritated when they start slinging the mood stabilizers.  Not everyone who uses the phrase, 'racing thoughts' is bipolar.  They always have a way of taking severe anxiety and turning it into something else.
