Interesting situation equinox. If your employer uses a test strip for testing, then maybe the kit had expired, not been stored properly, or just a poor quality test kit to begin with. Makes a big difference.
I used to order V's from an IOP in the tropical Pacific. I never quite felt comfortable with them. Quality was usually very good, but I don't think I ever received meds. where the quality was consistently good through-out the entire order. Still, there were always enough good meds. sent, they were easy to work with, the price was good, and their packaging was amongst the best I have ever seen. So, I stuck with them for a couple years.
Many IOPs are located in environments where climate controlled storage is critical. If your vendor does not store their products properly, then the efficacy can degrade rapidly in tropical heat and humidity. Expiration dates can be critical as well and you need to be careful of vendors that remove meds. from blisters in this regard... i.e. did they remove blisters to improve shipping (a legitimate reason by the way), or did they just want to get the meds. out of strips that expired two years ago?
Lots of what-ifs? I know equinox. It's the risk we take.

P.S. After many years in this game and many vendors used, I am not able to definitively state that I have received fake meds. from any vendor I have used. Poor quality meds.? Yes, I can definitively state that I have received poor quality meds. at times. What I don't know is whether this was due to the manufacturing of the med., or whether there were mitigating circumstances which diminished the quality of the med. due to poor handling by the vendor.
