Thanks to everyone who replied (and some PMs too). This is a very caring forum. It means a lot to me that people made the effort - you have no idea how much that in itself helped
The situation has improved. The most senior doctor at the practice issued me with a full prescription!
I went in with a fresh haircut, well dressed, and a new attitude. I wasn't begging. This was a situation for them to sort out. I made it their problem, not mine. I explained things and gave them two solutions - one being easy, and the other a total PITA. They took the easy option for them - which was what I wanted ;-) Seeing a different doctor was very important because it removed any element of blame or criticism. I was very nice about their colleague... Obviously we just had some misunderstanding... probably my fault ;-)
Long term I still have to work this out. But legit supplies are replenished. I'll probably still have to quit tramadol eventually, but at least it won't be CT. BlackSocks makes a good point about focusing on function rather than their absurd 1-10 scale of pain - thanks.
Does anyone who quit tramadol, or similar, have advice for things that make it easier? Given the number of neuroreceptors it hits, this won't be a walk in the park, even done slowly. Are there herbal remedies that help? (Weed doesn't fit my lifestyle, but otherwise would be an obvious suggestion.)
Thanks to all. x
TLDR: Crisis over; thanks for help; still interested in methods of tramadol reduction.
