"Duel in the Sun" with Gregory Peck, Joseph Cotten and Jennifer Jones (have to factor in its age, but classic movie).
There are some other older westerns I like, but drawing a blank at the moment.
More modern era, "3:10 to Yuma" was a nice watch IMHO with good storyline and actors.

That Kurt Russell movie "Bone Tomahawk" was weird, but good also. I've always enjoyed his movies.
Is "Old Yeller" a western? Or just beautifully sad story of a great dog in the west?
I loved "Savage Sam" (son of Old Yeller), which was the 'sequel' or second movie about Coates' family adventures (I think that was their name).
Anyone here see "Seraphim Falls"? That was good, too. Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan.
Story of revenge between 2 men over a wrong by one of them.

I liked "Purgatory" where the town has famous old west characters being given a second chance to atone for their misdeeds and make it to Heaven, or not. Some decent actors and keeps your interest.
Does "Young Riders" (#1 and #2) count as western or teen cult classic? HAHAHA
I remember now - what about those brothers.... "The Sacketts" I think? I believe it was made for TV movie but still enjoyed it.
Had Sam Elliot as oldest and Tom Selleck as middle brother (both of them make really good cowboys, you notice?)
Then it was followed up by "The Shadow Riders" with Katharine Ross. For that era of movie-making, it was good entertainment.
"How the West was Won" with huge cast of great actors like Gregory Peck, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda etc
"The Tin Star" with Anthony Perkins as young sheriff and Henry Fonda the cynical former lawman.
There are so many I love. It's difficult to stop. 
"North to Alaska" is called 'a western set in the Alaskan wilderness'... anyway, I always thought it was sooo funny! John Wayne, Stewart Granger, Ernie Kovaks and Fabian as gold miners, don't remember actress' name - but the "love triangle" with her, Fabian and John Wayne is hilarious!
I believe I'll stop on that one - how often do you laugh during a western (oh, "Blazing Saddles" LOL)

(Would the "The Revenant" be considered a western? I watched that recently. Quite a story, esp since based on real person & events)
Great post Wolf. You've pretty much cleared the table. "High Noon" is often mentioned as the first "adult" western, the break with the guy in a white hat and a guy in a black hat, and the horse chases, and Indians who fell like bowling pins from their ponies. I am partial to "Seraphim Falls" also. Good survival movie. I guess there was a time in the West when you had to be tough. There is a story about Billy the Kid walking close to twenty miles in snow to reach his destination. He was mainly a back shooter, or a surprise shooter, but still could do twenty miles in the snow. Anyway, I drift. Good list you've put up.

I was thinking about "Quigley Down Under" - good call. I like that movie. It's a sweet love story, with some terribly sad scenes also. And, of course, all the gun play and action of a good western. Bad guy in black hat and all that. 
I've watched all the old ones, too. "Angel and the Bad Man" "She wore a yellow ribbon" and so on.

Another movie made in Australia but is a western-type movie is called "The Proposition". It's kinda offbeat movie and some raw brutality, but I enjoyed the main character, Guy Pearce, and his viewpoint of the story. He and his two brothers are notorious outlaws. The law captures him and his youngest brother. He is told by authorities that he must find and kill his oldest brother (the worst guy in entire territory but charismatic) or that they will execute his youngest brother. He has to decide which brother to lose... is there a way to save both? or will he lose both? The suspense.....

Quigley Down Under is a great movie, Dancing Wolf.
If Im not mistaken the bad guy was the same one in the Die HArd movies.

I really enjoyed "Snowy River" and its sequel. Great mention.
Also great mention of Clint Eastwood movies ('spaghetti westerns'?)
I liked "Hang 'em High"
"The Outlaw Josey Wales" etc.
Eastwood such an interesting character in his movies (all kinds of them)
"SHANE" Shane, come back...
"The Missing" was really good with the dynamics between Tommy Lee Jones and Cate Blanchett
"Hombre" with Paul Newman
Was "True Grit" mentioned yet?

"Once Upon a Time in the West" ?
Please forgive if I repeat one, I'm trying not to do so yet add more titles.
"Meek's Cutoff" was an offbeat western that shows reality the pioneers suffered, more than most movies.
"Priest" is a futuristic western movie with horror story combined. How about the brave sheriff?
Worse, how about that cowboy vampire? He was creepy!
