The last time I checked the shipping prices were very very expensive. Have those prices changed at all?

A lot of items have shipping included so it's not too bad.

I don't think it is always worth the extra cost. One item I'm interested in is $400 from P but $1500 from the other locations. Do you think $1100 extra for the same item is worth it?

Buddy, The item you are talking about for $400 is from P without any kind of reship facility, refund or compensation in any case. Shipped by Reg. Airmail which takes 1 to 2 weeks minimum for dispatch and 2 to 3 weeks minimum for delivery and in rare cases people have posted here deliveries after 6 to 8 months even. And on top of that the success rate isn't much higher because P is considered a hot zone. So if you can wait that long and risk your money you are welcomed to spend $400 on that product.

Whereas the same product offered for $1500 from HK has 90 to 100 percent success rate to almost any part of the world. Has a full reship facility and takes only 4 to 7 days for delivery. The items are not sent from a HOT ZONE and you can order at least 3 to 4 times in a month compared to once in months from P.
