I received an "invitation " to have my brain scanned. I have this done many times before due to brain injury and the Nero doc discharged me back to my GP, I had no real lasting damage just small irritating things, e.g The part of the brain the send signals to my body to eat and drink does not function properly, I also have a bad short term memory. And sometimes when I write I miss whole words out. These things are annoying but nothing serious and it does not effect my day to day living or intelligence and nobody would know if I had not told them.

When I read the docs letter is seemed to me as if he wanted me to take part in some kind of experiment, but this experiment will require a brain scan. I have never been treated by this doctor but he knows my medical background.
I googled him is a respected neuro doc. but I don't like brain scans, plus I am not getting paid for this just out of pocket expenses. I also have a fear that the first brain doc missed something and that doctor and his experiment will give me bad news. I have about 2 months too decide and I am in two minds, Yes my brain injury caused very minor complications that does not effect my quality of life. On the other hand I get to have my brain examined for free from a top neuro psych. I would have to travel for 2 hours daily and I must be clean of all drugs etc.

Everyone I spoke to in real life tell me I would be a fool not to have it done. Since this is the internet and you all don't really know me so you can have an objective opinion should I go to that doc and take part in his experiment? I have doubled check there will be NO surgery unless the doc spots something life threatening etc,
So folks of IOP list what would you choose?

I am in 2 minds,

I cannot edit the above post but I forgot to say
I know my grammar / spelling/ syntax is very bad, I am doing my best to work on it, but complications from Brain injuries like that is not considered a big deal, I just need to relearn, as for my memory that is something I cannot control and I am already panicking as I will have to get a proper job soon, and I doubt I can get one. Also it is quite upsetting when people pick on my flawed grammar. I used to be able to use correct grammar, but now I struggle. I know everyone gets annoyed when their spelling and grammar is picked on, but for me, it effects my confidence and brings me down, but soon I will be having lessons, in the meantime I would appreciate it, if you could ignore my grammar or correct it in a nice helpful way.

Could have been a injection of steroids the doc gave you kristof, thats pretty common i believe in this side of the pond not the US,if it was a heavy duty PK i think you would notice the feeling compared to steroids which will help with pain but you wouldn't feel any different in your head.

Thanks for the update, kristof
I thought about you today and wondered how it went for you.
my dear departed sweetheart had multiple back, neck and hip surgeries,
I'm very sorry your back is so messed up, esp at such an early age.

I feel sure an intelligent person with positive attitude like you will find another type job,
there are many re-training programs out there to help.

Aren't those scans miserable when you're in pain?
I remember how uncomfortable they were for me, downright torture at times,
once when I was having scan of my shoulder, they put my arm in some type restraint in a painful position
and they told me not to move,
so I didn't move or complain...
but when I came out of machine, tears were streaming down my face from the pain, I couldn't control them

Sounds like your doctor is on the ball and doing everything possible to help you
That's a good thing.
you will be in my prayers, kristof

My poor friend. Your doctor sounds to be good. It will be ok, kristof.

Kristof,
I feel for you. As Linville and Charon said, no one knows the specific pain you feel. We all deal with our own pain in different ways. Sending, good thoughts your way.

Linville, you may have started a 'thing' going here. Smile
I wonder how many whiteboards your quote could make it onto?
I claim #2 Big Grin on our whiteboard at the Reception of a Community Health Center in Melbourne, Australia.

There's a difference between having an opinion and having an informed opinion.
