Lost a friend to opioids

Hi IOP friends,

I just lost a dear friend to opioid addiction.  As I had been preoccupied with my own struggles with alcohol addiction this year, I had not been as supportive as I wish I had been.  Now he is gone, and I feel such incredible sadness.  He was only in his 30's.  This is the closest friend I've ever lost in my life.  He was really was such a light and the most wonderful friend.  He was the kind of person that would do anything for you.  

PLEASE: do everything you can to help someone you think might be struggling.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE: if you are struggling yourself get help and beat this awful addiction.  I know it seems impossible, but you have no idea how far reaching and precious your life is.  So many people are hurting over his death--and I know he often thought no one cared about him.  My heart is broken.

Mr Fuss, how blessed you are to have had such a wonderful friend. My heart is breaking for you. Sometimes we get so caught up in our own struggles (life is hard) that those close to us who are hurting go unnoticed. Let’s keep his memory alive by reaching out to all who are struggling. I hope and pray you will be strong and your heart will heal.

My most heartfelt condolences to you Mr Fuss on the passing of your good friend. I have a special place in my heart for those dealing with addiction. I'm so very sorry your friend lost the battle though. I've found that time is the only thing that makes it not hurt quite as much at the loss when someone passes.......

So grateful that you shared this loss with us and so sorry that you are in pain and hurting. Your friend sounds lucky to have had someone as sensitive as you in his life. He sounds like he was a kind and generous soul who will be missed by many. I am so sorry for your loss, Mr. Fuss. Stay strong in your own conviction to overcoming alcohol addiction. Time ..... I am so sorry. You had your own battle and you could not have helped more at this time. Will his friends have a memorial for him? It may bring some closure or knowledge to many of the people whom did care about him.
