Wannabe... try bumping your magnesium at night and melatonin. There is a powder I use, on and off, that you can get from any online made by Vitality Natural called CALM.

I agree with the points made about it being dangerous to go cold turkey. I am amazed that after you already had seizures your doctor wants to cut you off. Might you tell your doctor that you want to quit, but more slowly?

Doctors are audited on their prescriptions so under pressure to prescribe fewer benzos and opiates. What they don't want is a patient stringing them along with constant promises about trying some time in the future (which never happens). Your doctor probably does have patients like that, but in your case you genuinely want to stop, so you agree on that, it seems more an issue of how fast you stop.

If they push really fast or cold turkey then remind them of the seizures. That is a risk to them. If they cut you off and you seize they could be in trouble. Ask them what clinical reason they have for withdrawing you cold turkey/so rapidly from a drug you've been taking for six years? It isn't a race, you just want to reach the finish line. You might be able to bring this off best if you kinda align what you are saying with their plan to stop - i.e. you both agree you should stop, all you are debating is the timescale.

Good luck!

I know this thread is a bit dated, but the person seems to be doing well. I hope they are. I would like to agree with the person who talked about the woman who made the tapering chart. It is the gold standard, and that person is correct. You should be very happy with yourself for having the guts to do what you feel is right for yourself. At the same time behavior defines an individual, not what medicine they have to take. do your best, and go slow, and it should not be that bad at that amount. But everyone is different. Obviously, as I know people who have taken a lot more than that and stopped and they have been lucky nothing has happened, besides extra anxiety. but obviously not a smart move just to stop stop if you had been using regularly, but you seemingly know what’s up. especially after some people posted some answers, including again that wonderful chart that lady put a lot of research into it. I’m sorry I don’t have the link, but I assume it’s easy to find. good luck, and saying a prayer for you to have a very calm and happy day. You deserve it. everyone on this board does. ?✌?❤️??✅

I hope you have had success with your taper. Dr's just cutting people off has become the norm where I live as well. I have had people I know go cold turkey off of very high dosages and been okay, I tried and did not have the same success even being at a much lower dose.

I have tried a few tapers but I have no been able to. I hope you are doing well and are managing your anxiety.

I forget the name but it is a well known taper available online that mentions subbing V for X or other B's.

It is also a slow process. I know that seizures and death can happen if not properly tapered.

Good luck to those doing this.
