snows will come & limit my time outdoors & I dread wen that happens.  Anyway, you ave a terrific day Mr. HIND Big Grin

Hello Roses!

Levi517 and Happyvibe too!

Thanks for sharing and I appreciate the kind words, above. I'm all in with you folks, thoughts n all. Thumbs up! Here's to outdoor activities! Cheers! *Raises Glass O Water*

So I posted about hiking. After posting, the next day I did another hike, but more advanced. 1st part of the hike has an altitude gain of roughly 750 feet in 1/4 mile, then smooths out and finally peaks at 1200 feet. Well the venture went swell but could barely walk for two days after, haha! Today, Halloween, still feeling the muscles in my feet, ankles n calves. Lotsa little muscles in my feet, didn't realize I even had.

For 5 years straight, I hiked that mountainous area 5-6 days a week. Oh geeze the mental n physical battles that mountain and I shared were incredible. Some days it would whoop my A$$, others I'd return the favor. An ongoing spat, we shared Smile.

The area I hike is very sparse of humans but I eventually met another hiker I eventually slapped the nickname, 'Lieutenant Dan' on, as he was slower than me. Can't mention the nickname he awarded me, too raunchy.. Point is, we made a habit to hike together, just in case something happened. No cell service, rocky terrain and plenty of rattlesnake up there. Catch my drift?

Anyway, I got caught up doing a lot of gardening last year. Turning compost (5 cubic yards--HARSH!), building and filling raised beds, I completely forgot about hiking. I also forgot the mountain is not forgiving! A year ago the hike would be fairly easy for me. Now the mountain's making me pay, for slacking off...

Anyway I lost a lot of lower body strength in one year. Lesson learned!

When I get back to where I was, no more extensive breaks! At my age, (50ish) it's important to at least maintain body strength. There's a point in age where it becomes almost impossible to reclaim muscle mass or strength, so time to fight! Very happy I'm able to hike and won't take those abilities for granted anymore.

Take care everyone and have a great Halloween!

I wish i was the adventurous type that can hike on mountains but for me taking the subway is adventure enough!
Thanks mr.hind and roses for the inspiration to get outside, take a walk and garden.

Have a great day.

Hello Roses! Good morning too!

Sounds like you have a great place to bring the doggies n hike. Besides the weather cutting your outdoor time, during the cold season, seems like a great place. I'm very lucky to live close to the hills. Weather doesn't get too bad here in So Cal. Sometimes it's doesn't even rain in the winter. Summer though, it gets pretty hot! I did a hike once and the temp rose to 106F. Won't do that again...

Poor Happyvibe has to deal with the subway! I feel for my fellow brethren....

Well I'm off to hike n get some sunshine!

Enjoy your day!

Thanks for the images!
