We are on quarantine here my daughter tested positive last Tuesday. I started having symptoms Christmas Eve I’ve been working remote every day so tomorrow is my day off I’m gonna go get tested but every muscle in my body hurts like it’s on fire and a headache behind my eyes terrible but no fever this is the strangest thing. And my partner and my other daughter perfectly fine even though they were exposed and in the same house and rode in a car with her without a mask when she had symptoms before she got tested just strange. Health department has our house on quarantine until the 30th I think she said but if I go tomorrow and get tested on my day off then it’ll be extended another 10 days. I’m pretty sure I have it test waiting times is like 4 to 5 hours to get the test. Idk anymore ugh

I am so sorry. Prayers going up for your test results. I pray the Lord allows this virus to pass over your home without doing harm. Comfort her and heal her family I pray.

You got this. Healthcare knows what to do this time around.

We are here for you.

Might wan't to re-visit some feel good TV series, may I suggest The Walton's and Little house on the Prairie? I catch the news while driving, but when inside, it is all on-line stuff. I do not want to be uninformed, but figure the half hour of news in my truck is plenty. Maybe revisit some of your Childhood favorite TV shows, many on You-Tube Free. Believe me, Humanity has been through way far worse than this Pandemic. God, who I believe Orchestrates Mother Nature and is one in the same has always corrected overpopulations of creatures and it is not pretty! This will be far from such a balance of Human Population-Resources available scenario as it is with most creatures whose numbers spike and crash due to different variables. Just a little "advice" from someone that works in healthcare. Maybe don't read the COVID-19 tbread if you feel the need to tell people to watch reruns of Little House on the Prarie. This is no joke, and I am watching people die. This thread is here to help and support people. If you are uncomfortable with it, ok. But don't tell people that are dealing with it to ignore it.
It's bad enough the government is sticking their heads in the sand--this forum is for help and support. If you can't offer that, don't comment.

It could be fueling the “very sharp” spike in coronavirus cases in south-east England, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said.

A report from on the ground...

The UK is really into testing genomes so if anywhere was going to spot a variant it would be the UK. There is no data on whether it mutated in the UK or elsewhere and then really got going in London and South-East England. But the short story is there was a lockdown and yet the cases didn't drop as they'd expect, so something else was happening.

The mutation makes it easier to catch, but no evidence it is more dangerous once you have it. It's thought to be 55 - 70% transmissible, so a bit less than twice as transmissible. This raises interesting questions about whether the safety rules we have been taught in the UK, such as staying 2 metres away from other people will still apply... might it need to be 3m?

BTW I know vaccines are contentious for some people on this forum, and I'm not trying to start that debate here. Just let me just point out vaccination in the UK is totally optional. I shall jump at the chance when my opportunity comes.

As for whether the mutation will require a different vaccine, it is thought not to be a problem yet. However it will almost certainly escape the vaccines at some point. Fortunately some of the designs are easily adjusted to combat a future strain.

Stay safe my friends.

The highly transmissible variant has now been detected in upstate NY.
The national guard needs to step in to help roll out the vaccine ASAP.
