COVID-19: First Case Of Highly Contagious Brazil Strain Confirmed In NY

The first case of the highly contagious COVID-19 Brazilian variant has been confirmed in a New York State resident.
The first case of the highly contagious COVID-19 Brazilian variant has been confirmed in a New York State resident.
The case of the strain, officially known as the P.1 variant, was identified by scientists at Mount Sinai hospital in New York City and verified by the Department of Health's Wadsworth Center Laboratories.
The patient is a Brooklyn resident over age 90 with no recent travel history.
DOH is working with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to learn more information about the patient and potential contacts.
"This is a race between the vaccine and the variants, and we continue to make tremendous progress of getting shots in the arms of eligible New Yorkers," New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker said. "In the meantime, we remind New Yorkers to do everything they can to protect themselves and their neighbors as we continue to manage this pandemic."
The P.1 variant was first detected in the United States at the end of January, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is currently reporting 48 cases nationwide.
The P.1 variant has been designated a "variant of concern," which means there is evidence of an increase in transmissibility, more severe disease, and the potential for reduced effectiveness of treatments or vaccines.
However, while additional research is warranted, researchers at the University of Oxford recently released non-peer-reviewed data that indicates the P.1 variant may be less resistant to the current vaccines than originally thought.
Wadsworth Center is currently sequencing COVID-19 virus specimens at a rate of approximately 90 per day and has sequenced more than 8,200 virus samples statewide. Most specimens have been selected at random from throughout the state to ensure geographic representation.

I got covid a month ago , used Invermectin ( a little late, started on day 9th after the symptoms started ) then doxycycline ( cause posible pneumonia ) . Who knows what really work, but is a long way .
Strangely, not during the covid active phase , but after around 4 weeks my insomnia got so much worse, so worse that one night I took 1mg of alprazolam, Quetiapine 25 mg and 50mg of difenhidramine and was not available to sleep. In a normal night, since I don't use any of this daily, it easily put me into dreamland any of this without need to use it together .
For me it was not the " ebola " but it is not a common Flu, it can really fuck you . Plus symptoms are to diverse and what it is worst , the most common symptoms like fever can dissapear and the return . And I don't have hypertension, diabetes, etc . Don't even smoke , take vitamin D, C, etc .
efore I got the covid if somebody told me about the vaccine, I should tell no. Now , I will tell yes, I want the vaccine . Incredible, in India , Peru and some other South America Countries, Ivermectin is a common drug already use it to treat covid, tons of studies on pubmed. But in most countries, they simple don't gave you anything more than acetaminophen or ibuprofen till you got really problems like pneumonia and just then they Docs act .

I am so sorry. I saw our Moderator, The Ice Wizard knew that invermectin would work.
I am trying to time the vaccine for after, assuming I find a place, I move. Because I do say to my sister: I know I do not want to die from covid.
That was and is a hell of a battle. I am so sorry u went through this.

Colombian study, so it's not like it's tainted by United States pharma special interests. Can anyone point to good info on this topic m
Look for the Israel Study . It is extremely good . They used 0.2mg/kg to 0.3mg/kg for five day in early symptoms of covid and tested PCR positive.
Basically, they did a place group and a none placebo group ( 50 people on each one ) . What they found is that the none placebo group recovery much faster than the none placebo group and there was no hospitalization on the Invermectin group but two Hospitalization on the placebo group.
For prevention , there are studies that use 12mg one time per week . You need to take it two hours apart from meal . So if you take it when you wake up , wait two hours for breakfast .
There are a good Argentina Study too , they used higher dose , 0.6mg/kg .
Anyway, the " lethal dose " of Invermectine is pretty high, 50mg/kg . So you are using 1/100 of the dose that will be toxic for most person, that is pretty low compare to most of the drugs .
Here is an interview to the doc that made the study in Israel :

Get tested if you have COVID-19 symptoms.
Treatment may help reduce symptoms.
Each day, more and more Americans are getting vaccinated across the country and gaining protection from getting sick from COVID-19. However, if you're not vaccinated yet and test positive for COVID-19 with mild to moderate symptoms, there's a treatment option that may help: monoclonal antibody treatments.
For higher risk patients, like those 65 or older, or with certain health conditions, these treatments can fight the disease and avoid hospitalization.
Learn More
If you're experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, get tested as soon as possible — monoclonal antibodies must be given within 10 days of the onset of symptoms.
Monoclonal antibodies provide temporary antibodies to help fight COVID-19. The FDA approved this treatment for emergency use, and it's the only approved outpatient treatment currently available. Monoclonal antibody treatment may reduce your likelihood of being hospitalized and keep you from getting more severe symptoms. Learn more about monoclonal antibody treatments, and talk to your doctor or healthcare provider to see if this treatment option is right for you.
Remember: Medicare covers tests to diagnose COVID-19, monoclonal antibody treatments, and COVID-19 vaccines — so there's no cost to you.
Sincerely,
The Medicare Team
Loverly. They never wrote me before. Pretty sure NY just said forget the antibody treatments now. Just do your research.

Thanks for posting this Charon. There’s so much emphasis on the vaccines-and it’s wonderful that we have them-that most people don’t know about availability of treatment if you have early stage Covid. Vaccines are useless at that point.
And the treatment is not for the rich and famous...it’s free and available to everyone and sadly not being used nearly as often as it could and should.

CDC has extended the moratorium on evictions in most states. Check the CDC site. Apparently they are not allowed to shut off electric at this time.
It is allegedly law in NY, but my lying creep of a Landlord is digging up the property around me.
There have to be some documents one files that: lost income, due to pandemic, and to be evicted now, when no places are available, is horrific to the thousands of us in NY alone whom will be on streets.
One has to state under oath that the pandemic messed up rent. And if one is evicted, one will be homeless or have to move in with relatives and it will create more covid during this new wave from Brazil I believe.
Check it out if applicable. Mafia Landlords whom assume all people make tons of money even in a pandemic, such as mine, will tear down my house anyway.
U may get more time. Check out cdc guidelines.

This is the form one can fill out online. No attorney needed. That the pandemic has decreased your income; And, that to be forced to move to the streets now, for so many thousands and thousands of us, will make the pandemic worse. Cuz severe health issues, such as death, in those of us whom have been disabled for years. No hope of recovery.
Good luck all. But find the form for your state or send this one in. You do not want to be homeless in NY. Or as the pandemic worsens again.
One can email it. Or the association will fed ex or such for u also. Don't even need a printer.
Of course if your Landlord of Lies is connected in the NYC docks area, he won't give a damn about evicting elders with autoimmunes and little else, right into the streets. Dickhead.

The UK variant called B1 something, is now smashing people down in NY suburbs. It is affecting children significantly.
Just when King Cuomo was letting everything open up so people might like him again. When pigs fly, You Killer of Elders.
So Cuomo is re opening quite a bit. To save his career. Not cuz it is safe to do so.
Study up on it. Make your decisions. The Fourth Surge is the spike affecting the children.
