Strange Tommy , that is not good news if the white site says will stop Rx service . Maybe it is transient and not permanent they not refer to a new low that bans Rx from them but to quality control, since it is of interest can they give more info about it ? If you have any further info please update . Hope it is not the end of the line for white .

This is what was in the email-
We were recently subjected to an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and they have said that we must speak with our patient’s GP before prescribing the weak opioids, codeine and dihydrocodeine. I want to reassure you that we are rigorously challenging this decision and have employed a team of expert lawyers to fight the case on our behalf. We have taken the decision to suspend the ability to order any opioid pain relief for the present due to the restrictions placed on us by the CQC and the difficulties surrounding contacting GPs. It is clearly outside CQC’s remit to dictate that a patient’s own GP must be involved in our prescribing practice. The CQC cannot restrict people’s entitlement to seek medication from a registered and qualified medical clinician of their choosing. Neither is it the CQC’s role to second guess the prescribing decisions of qualified and registered medical clinicians. It is also not the job of the CQC to prevent patients from accessing medical assistance on the basis they are not registered with a GP. There is no legal requirement for people to be registered with a GP. In order to help prevent this type of heavy handed approach becoming the norm we encourage you to make your feelings known about the CQCs decision by completing the form and emailing it to HSCA_Representations@cqc.org.uk Details to complete on the form are our reference number MRR1-3244130932, Regulated activity - ‘Treatment of disease, disorder or injury’, and the Date of Notice - 19/01/17. You can also write a direct email quoting the above reference number, regulated activity and date of notice to HSCA_Representations@cqc.org.uk If you prefer to use the phone then call the CQC on 03000 616 161 and ask to speak with Janet Ortega. Thank you so much for your support and help in this matter. So there you go,i only used them the once so it wont have a massive effect on me,for others though it will, sad state of affairs indeed.

The CQC seem to assume you have a GP who knows you quite well - that's just not the case for most people. I was speaking to an NHS consultant and registrar a few weeks ago and they were saying how ten years ago the concept of "your GP" made more sense, but not any more. And I know from experience that even on the rare occasions where it is possible to see the same GP I've dealt with before, you then find they've been replaced by a locum. (In my case the locum messed around all three of my prescriptions to the extent a hospital had to issue me emergency supplies!)
Go getting back to the situation with this IOP, I guess the CQC are attempting to stop people doubling up. But the result is that a load of people will either end up in pain, or forced to seek alternative supplies (which probably won't be from the UK!).

I must live in said parallel universe too! The docs all say not a chance the pharmacists all say not seen a reduction in despensing benzos, to my mind they can't both be right can they? I'm nowadays a reluctant user of anything trying ditch methadone and doing well at it but benzos have there place, in my opinion there irresponsible prescribing many years ago by which I mean the early prescribed meds for heroin addiction was a whopping great bag of benzo's temazis, diazis also known as a walking charge sheet this is what has lead to this anti benzo hysteria but the truth of the matter is in moderation they are a wonderful medication that can help many people in many walks of life in many ways. I know this much for sure the right kind of access to these meds and I would've been able to put methadone to bed probably a decade ago
