Great Ice. so glad they are coming thru better.
If I become lax remind me, just say hey Linville, you are leaving the doubles again, and i will correct it.
Thank you for you patience getting me to remove them before I post, I just never saw the problem so it always lost my attention, but now I will always try to delete them .
The song is about Syd Barrett on one level. You know he went crazy while with the band, sadly. Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett was heavily damaged by a drug designed to act as a neurotransmitter: (The dark side of the 1960's.)
But it is also about missing yourself, as Waters can attest to. That dejecting feeling of absence and 'numbness'. That feeling of not being able to feel anything. We've all experienced it in some capacity
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
Dedicated to people who meant something in your life
I still feel this song is more about life than .....than death, but as Roger said there is no reason why you should not put other interpretations on this song in what way it is meaningful to you...( more on this later )
Wish You Were Here is the best song about friendship I have ever heard, still astonishing and just gets straight under your skin.
