Hello from the north
#1
Spring has been a long time coming in this part of the country...
First post for me...and my story is hardly unique...I came here due to a very stressful week...
About me, I'm getting my masters in a month, and my doctor suddenly decides to cut me off from Alpr@z. 1mg daily, which I've been on for 10 years (2 years with current doc.)
Saw a 2nd doc who was equally lacking in compassion...told me withdrawals "won't be that bad"  Sleepy
I'm coping, shaving my last two tablets down to slivers. Not too desperate yet. (I've been on anxiety meds for 20+ years, and have gone off several times, but never due to being cut off cold-turkey, I've always had a month or more to wean myself off.)
Anyway, I'm happy to meet you all!

Holy toledo. Welcome. May u find what u need.

Congratulations on ur academic achievements.

I would try another doctor if that is legal. Someone else will know. But, if u explain that u need just enough to taper? Isn't it a violation of their oath to leave u without the means to withdraw?

It has become equally insane in my state. I am off the benzo i have been on since age 15 more times than i have been on it due to changing laws. Doctors are in fear of losing their licenses.

I wish I had an answer for u right now. Let's see how some members respond.

Would they prescribe for you Inderal? a blood pressure/heart med that will help prevent severe problems?

Let's see what advice u get from those whom have been on xanax. They will know.

Ghastly. But it seems to be the wave of the future. And, vendors cannot get meds to u that quickly. We use international vendors due to fewer legal ramifications.

I shall check in with u in a tad bit. But, I am so sorry for the inhumane treatment.

Thanks Charon, just hearing some words of understanding is all I need at the moment. Things have gotten really insane with doctors. At least where I'm at, there seems to be a shortage... I'm unable to get into a shrink for a month or more (that is, with the ones who actually have working phone numbers) and the 2nd doctor was unwilling to go against the first...I have decent, but still limited insurance. It all adds up to a situation where one is forced to omit info to continue receiving the treatment they need affordably...doctors just don't seem to have any clue compassion about the cost issue especially, and I believe this is just my doc's revenge for not divulging my past drug treatment (relating to a different substance). He wouldn't even listen to me long enough for me to explain that if the other treatment I had sought didn't require huge sums out of pocket, or if his clinic offered the same service, there would be no need to omit information from him...I can't go back to that other clinic either...long sucky story. I'm not sure I need another med at the moment, but that could change quickly, and I'd love to hear about others' experiences with xanax withdrawal. (I have to scoot for a few hours but eagerly await more input!)

Thanks again for the welcome everyone.
Actually getting through today quite well:
from 1 mg last Thursday to .125mg today. That's almost a tenth!
Would I rather not have to do this? of course. Do I feel like hell? Yes. Will I survive? quite likely!

Awesome attitude. I pray someone has advice for u. I go cold turkey off valium. And, have had seizures. So, am a big believer in hope. Let us see. I hope someone has an answer for u cuz frankly, so many doctors now suck. No humanity at all.
