Yay I hit 50.  I wish I had more useful information to share but I suppose better knowledge comes with time and activity.

I don't think I can access any additional areas yet, do I need to do anything?

yes. usually one waits about an hour. clears out their browser cache. and then one can see extra areas.

however, with specificity, we put in rules that posts in Off Topic Areas do not count toward one's first fifty posts. But, a gremlin let u guys post to each other in off topic areas, such as music, etc, and still get viable first fifty posts.

Just Pm me when u have waited and cleared out ur cache. Good luck.
