The usps is starting a new service called informed delivery. Apparently each piece of your mail is digitally photographed by the post office before it is sent to you. The service involves opening an account with usps and using an app or email to view photos of your mail before it is delivered to you.
I had no idea that they keep a photographic record of your mail and find this to be quite unsettling. You can go to the usps site and search for informed delivery to find out more about it.
It is getting time to place an order and for some reason I am more terrified than I've ever been. We are being surveilled more than ever before, every time I look I see another payment method has been shut down, feeling really squeezed and hopeless.

someone put up a thread about packages being photographed. not sure where.
we have believed that it is the end before. When ROPS went down. The day the NROPs died. The ryan haight act.
i do keep posting that this is the worse i have seen it both in real life and online. In about 24 yrs.
If you remember biotran, he accepted payment described as CIM.

Not heard of this before, not good to read, next they'll be asking us if we want mail opened for a small price of course.
This is just another way to try and infiltrate our private lives, they will say it is for customers convenience, then the terrorism excuse will come up and we do it to keep you all safe from those bad people who are everywhere.
The system be it postal or other seems more intent on knowing more and more about our personal lives, hey you done nothing bad so no need to worry folks, where is it all leading?
quite worrying to read about this, hope nobody signs up for this, not heard of it here in EU, things like this usually get tried in the US first then rest of world follows, not good so dont sign up anyone please.
Thanks for posting this Anamcara, useful to know how they are operating

Not sure if this is going to stay this by usps. And some things get started in EU as well , not only US in in frond of limit individual personal freedom. Surveilance is rather something he will have to get use to it in the future . Each one has to take chances as in everything else in life. What u dont need is fear. They want to spread anxiety as always . Do not get anxious . Everything will be all right. Just onother waiste for time for courier services I think.

I got my first LL and got booted from MG right after informed delivery kicked in, so I agree with IOPness. OPT out. USPS used to be safer because, as far as I heard, they needed a warrant to open mail. But if I am reading the new handbook right (601.653 or the other way around, or I am just wrong) any usps worker can now open anything they find suspicious anywhere along the line. Just like UPS and FedEx. So yeah, stay away from USPS.com, especially informed delivery at least that's my opinion.-Ivor

Thank you Charon, I will be very careful! Wish they would leave us harmless folks alone. Really, with all the truly dangerous people around, it seems such a huge waste of resources to be tracking everyone's letters and tiny packages like this.

They can open anything they like? Unbelievable! And frightening.
Now as for opting out as IOPness suggested, apparently folks have been trying with not much success. There is an article I read about it. Also it discussed other problems such as anyone being able to sign up to monitor your mail. Apparently they are trying to fix the weak security that allows that to happen, but right now, with a little cleverness, your ex, your boss, your neighbor can get your info sent to them!
BTW, love your username. I was a big Who fan when I was younger, and that was a great song.

This doesn't surprise me at all! Our freedoms are slowly being eroded away. All in the name of terrorisim!

I tried searching for a way to opt out but couldn't find anything. Please let us know if you know how to do it!

I have informed delivery b/c we have a business at our home address and we like to see when checks come and the last time I recieved a pkg it was not photographed. This wasn't the only parcel not photographed either. I'm not 100% sure but I think they don't photograph parcels. If anyone has a parcel photographed, I apologize for the wrong information
