I hope this is ok, if not, Administration please just delete.Â
I know there are a lot of people that come here looking for med to deal with their diseases. I thought maybe a thread giving hope about the latest breakthroughs might be uplifting to some.Â
For example: they have found in Rats with Alzeimers, if they were given young blood transfusions regularly, their symptoms decreased remarkably. Another example is that simply by using a high frequency ultrasound on Alzeimers patients heads, it seemed to shake off the sticky stuff that prevented the neurons from working properly. I'm sorry I don't have the articles. Â
I just thought anything to bring hope to others for the future is a good thing. Do with the thread what you will.Â

I did hear some news on this before i could turn off the tv. (sorry. i am a vegetarian. i did pet rescue. my son is the scientist and worked with mice during his schooling. I just cannot think on it.)
But, u know we don't have an area for illnesses.

Hey... Try and find that article.. This is great stuff... Anything at this point would be a blessing for those who suffer this aweful stuff.. Not to even mention the one that love them and have no choice but to watch them wither into a shell of what they used to be... Terrible terrible....

I've seen the reports, they are inconclusive unfortunately. What works on rats or fruit flies does not always work for humans. What has been shown to lower the risk of AD is low fat diet with lots of fruits and veggies, avoid smoking, alcohol and benzos among other things. Being way overweight is also a risk factor. There are some treatments that show hope mostly in slowing the progression.

Revolution I heard something about this on the radio the other day. They said within 5 years we could start seeing results of doing away with Alzheimer's. I had to do a double take to see if what I was hearing was correct. I did not know if I heard it correctly. That would be interesting if we could wipe out a disease that has caused some of our loved ones so much of theirs and out lives.

I'm not sure how many times I heard a cure for cancer was within reach, just around the corner, immanent, etc. Years ago they said infectious diseases were no longer a factor when they started using antibiotics. Now a cure for alzheimers is just around the corner. Within reach too.
I dont mean to be a wet blanket but don't believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. They will make steady slow gradual progress like they have against cancer and other things.

To be honest, what you say makes sense Grandote. Just looking for hope. I remember when they said that cold fusion was just a year or 2 away. That was 20 years ago.

I'm sure there are many ways to cure diseases that we will not hear about. As long as they are making a shitload of money on useless treatments, they are not going to cure anything. If they make everyone well again, what will they do when the big bucks stop filling their pockets?

Well, there are always choices. Personally, if I needed to, I'd go to Europe for my care.

Sounds good but then I would question the cost and insurance coverage and also how about the cell phone (ELF) signals, aluminum cans we drink from has shown to cause Alzheimer's. Â
