I am also new.  The rules are pretty straight forward compared to some others I've seen.
Just read a lot of the threads to get a feel for the board and get to know something about the members.
It takes time but is worth it in the end.  

I like that the rules are available at top of pages instead of just one location, so you can easily re-check them before you post or if you are unsure of something.

Members seem friendly and ready to offer helpful suggestions in a supportive way.
