An interesting read from World Post.
"A chemical compound found in marijuana can now be used for medicinal purposes in the United Kingdom, according to the governmental branch that regulates medicine."
“We have come to the opinion that products containing cannabidiol (CBD) are a medicine,” a spokesman for the U.K.’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency told The Huffington Post.
They left out THC in their opinion, but CBD is increasingly being recognized as being effective in seizures, pain and order disorders. I find it interesting that the UK, while cracking down on RC's, Kr@tom and other meds, took this step.
Regardless, it looks like a step in the right direction. Hopefully the U.S. government will take notice.

This is great news! Twenty years ago I would have never guessed that we would have made so much progress in this area.
Some of the medical dispensaries in my area have started carrying CBD-only options. I have not tried them yet.. has anyone here tried CBD-only options? If so what was your experience?

That's good but they already did, didn't they? Canada and the UK have the very effective inhaler-like vaporizer of THC/CBD in the best ratio possible, it's called Sativex. My cousin with MS who's getting a person with grave diseases (not Grave's Disease..well maybe those people get it too) gets the maximum welfare cheque because it's not because he doesn't want to work, but by the time he was 20, he was a BMX pro, using the same kind of parks I used skateboarding, and he knew it was coming and was gonna get real bad/worse sometimes. He smoked a lot of weed, but when he was prescribed Sativex...dear god, he basically forced me to take a "hit" from it and wow, it reminds me of strains of weed I didn't see often which are not the typical commercial high quality weed we got in Canada which is all M39 strain.
A perfect THC/CBD ratio insures no whiting out/too much psychedelia...(if people here ever had psychedelics in the past, I'm sure you noticed that weed tended to change in nature after that).

Interesting COE. With a little research, I found that Sativex was approved in the UK in 2010. It is currently being sold in 15 countries including Europe, Canada and Mexico for certain conditions. Also, in the US it had been fast tracked and in phase 3 studies. Don't know what it's current status is.
On Sun. Nov. 12th 2016 a company (Cannabis Science) specializing in cannabis-based medicines has developed two new medications for people with diabetic neuropathy nerve pain and fibromyalgia, in patch form. This company unfortunately has come under heavy criticism from investors as a fraud. Buyer beware.
Never the less, the tide is turning for those in need.

I have tried CBD options. If you're looking for a relaxing evening with little pain and little anxiety it's great. If you're looking for the more typical effects of marijuana it is not for you. CBD's greatest feature is the ability to treat someone with seizures. I cannot say enough good things on that effect. They have completely taken out the psychoactive ingredient so there is no "high". They have even tested it on children with epilepsy and it has done wonders.

wow this is awesome. I had a buddy in NY state who's girlfriend had late stage head and neck cancer and he was so frustrated because he could acquire large doses of CBD legally. Absolutely awful that we have laws like that. good for the UK

Hoping for ya, TG. This is such a travesty to not have it legal in all our states and those of our neighboring UK.
Its a natural plant. Scientifically proven to help so many in need.
But, yet our gvt made eating some dirt named k r a t o m on the possibility of sch Uno meds.
So, i really don't have that much hope for the US. For some reason, our constitution is being ignored on the separation b/w state rights and federal laws.
Its horrific how liittle our gvts care about those whom are suffering. Wait till they get sick or get even a bit older. Idiots, many. Mostly.
These are not royals whom govern us. They are allegedly elected officials. How can no mercy be shown toward the rights and needs of chronic care patients?
(It still amazes me how the alleged Big Apple, NY, the heart of the USA, has become so ignorant when it pertains to pain control. Way too many are fighting horrific illnesses on empacod. Allow scripts again, and allow a natural plant. When did NY become so insane?)

In the (I hope not to distant) future, people will look back and wonder why it was illegal for so long when no person has died from taking this plant.

Good news for the UK! Also, this week Teva got approval to sell a mmj inhaler in Israel. Seems like big pharma is finally on board with mmj. We can only hope that will have some positive influence on US policies too.
