Mitch Hedberg, a classic that died way too soon. I was lucky enough to see him live a couple of times. Not sure I call this *the best* but it's good. Enjoy a few laughs.

Thanks for this thread, I needed it! I'm in such a rut right now! I get such anxiety about normal daily things and then it spirals! I appreciate the laughs, they are needed!

MCS1964, that's so cool you are doing standup! I had a couple friends who were really into improv, they loved it. I always thought I'd be good at something like that. I'm glad you are having a great time, hobbies and passions are important!

Wow - I respect anyone who gives that a go! It is a very exposed type of performance.

Do you mind me asking how you got into it? I'm also interested how you developed from your first attempt, to what you are doing now (it's great you love it). What sort of material, or style (e.g. observational, political, surreal...)?

Sorry for all the questions, but it is an area that really interests me. I do a lot of public speaking, but in a totally different capacity to you.

Sorry barq, just saw this. I started because my workplace asked me to perfrom at the annual party. I did okay and started doing local open mics. I was terrible at first. The jokes were okay but the delivery was awful. I expected that and kept working at it. I'm in business so I approach my act like a business even though it's a hobby. I'll try a joke 3 times with different delivery and if it works, I keep it. If not, it gets axed. I guess my act is mostly about personal experiences, getting old, etc. I work pretty clean but am not easily offended. It's just a choice for me. I had my first professional gig last week and it went very well. It's a lot of fun for me but I don't think I'll make it a carreer. I've really enjoyed meeting and getting to know other comics. Most of them are much younger and they think it's cool to hang out with the old guy.
