Good Sunday Morning.
Thank you so much Audrey, Fireplaces, Linville, BlackSocks, barq, & Charon.
My dad is having a good couple of days without pain or depression. I am thankful for that. So far he hasn't needed any pain meds.
He was saying yesterday that he thinks this cancer has been in him for a good 20 years. Maybe it has come from the time that he was a heavy smoker. 3 packs a day for 65 years. He quit cold turkey about 7 years ago.
Today I will be watching westerns on tv with him. All the old ones with John Wayne & others. It is supposed to be a good day so perhaps my dad will sit outside on his deck for awhile too.
You are all terrific friends & I appreciate each & every one of you.
Hi Roses,
Yeah that makes sense if he smoked a lot that it could have started in the lungs.
Im so glad to hear ur Dad is having a couple good days.
I can remember you cooking out with him and posting abut it, good times !
Sounds good watching the TV with him.
I hope the day goes well.
Roses - I'm very glad to hear your dad had pain & depression free days. I'm so glad you are getting to spend time with him, I cherished the last few days I spend with my grandpa (he was really like a father to me since my real one wasn't in the picture). My thoughts are with you.

you never forget the date. my father was finally diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on feb 10. 1984. the doctor kept telling him its diabetes cuz of the weight loss. we closed down our law practice that day. and i was his caregiver. and he told me everything that i might have missed. i love my father dearly. i set up the hospital room. he would not accept guests cuz they all cried. not me. i believed that he was gonna be healed. i mean he was my daddy. i was always safe with him.
treasure everything he says. i recorded my dad speaking of the day he met my mother and fell in love. and i recorded him playing the saxophone. and singing Oh danny boy. he was an attorney but he played every instrument but for violin. we even had those old fashioned player pianos.
the anointing from whom i believe is God is with you. I remember my father was getting weak but when i walked in all prayed up, he would rise. I took off half an hour a day.
I treasure every word we shared. and, i had worked with him in law for seventeen yrs. i knew him well.
enjoy these times. never give up. and, there are some of us whom are caregivers. but not every one can handle being one. may God grant u strength and wisdom and Lord nothing is impossible for u to heal, I pray. In jesus name.
I still quote the things me father would share with me and laugh with me about once we learned he was terminal. he had seen pancreatic cancer before.
my clan escaped the coal mines. we did try to unionize. but we met every type of cancer known to man once we arrived here.
Be strong. May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
How are you doing Roses ?
Reading thru these messages to you and the stories shared really mean a lot.
Life can be so tough at times. We wonder how can we make it.
(and it can leave me speechless a loss for what to say at times)
We are thinking of you Roses and your family.
This is the most painful thing to watch. I am so very sorry to hear this. I lost my dad in October of last year and I think I'm just now starting to move through the emotional bits. My father too was 6'5 an athlete rugby player in his home country for many years. To see And him become fragile and frail was heartbreaking. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I will tell you in my dad's last moments he said his grandpa was there to pick him up. He squeezed my hand and told me he was going back home to the islands with his family. I believe that whatever happened he was warm and happy and at peace in his passing. This gave me a lot of peace knowing there were people to greet him. I am totally unsure how the afterlife works but I do know my dad was a man of few words who would never say anything frivolous or tell tales. I will keep you in my thoughts and I'm sending positive vibes your way.
Checking in on you today Roses. You and your family are in my prayers I am hoping you're having a good day today as are all of us here on the forum.
Just checking in on u both, roses. being a caregiver is a glorious period of time. oh, i treasure every word my parents would say to me.
May God be healing ur Dad. Keeping him free of pain. May you all have strength.
Caregiving a family member is often harder than being a good parent. Your dad is a great father to you. I just know he is eternally grateful for the time you are spending with him. And, the love. That goes on forever.
Be blessed. Have peace.
Hi Roses. Just wanted you to know you and your dad have been in my thoughts today. I was planting some flowers and you just popped into my mind.
Bless you and your dad!!!
Slick
