FBI Impersonators Targeting Florida Residents
JACKSONVILLE, FL—
The FBI Jacksonville Field Office has received reports of efforts by scammers to target Florida
residents through unsolicited telephone calls in which the caller claims to be a representative
of the FBI Fort Walton Beach Resident Agency.
There are many versions of the government impersonation scam, and they all exploit aggressive,
intimidation tactics. Typically, a scammer contacts a victim via phone, text or e-mail and claims
that charges have been, or soon will be, filed against them. Victims are told that they will be
forced to pay significant fees or court costs to resolve the matter if they do not wire “settlement”
money or provide payment via prepaid cards or gift cards. The scammer will then threaten to
confiscate the victim’s property, freeze their bank accounts, or have them arrested unless
payment is made immediately.
“No one wants to be the subject of a law enforcement investigation, so scammers use fear and
a false sense of urgency to intimidate people into quickly handing over their personal information
and hardearned money. Don’t fall for it,” said Kristin Rehler, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Jacksonville.
“It’s important to resist the urge to act fast and take time to verify who is actually contacting you.”
Be advised, the FBI does not call or e-mail individuals threatening them or demanding money.
Scammers often spoof caller ID information, and these phone calls are fraudulent even if they
appear to be coming from a federal agency’s legitimate phone number. Recipients should hang up
immediately and report the call to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at www.ic3.gov.
Filing a complaint allows analysts from the FBI to identify leads and patterns from the hundreds of
complaints that are received daily. The IC3 then refers the complaints, along with their analyses,
to the relevant law enforcement agency to aid in public awareness and crime-prevention education efforts.
If you think you are a victim of any type of scam and have suffered a loss financially or otherwise,
also file a report with your local law enforcement agency and contact the Federal Trade Commission
at www.identitytheft.gov for additional guidance.

Johnny Gaudreau's Wife Meredith Announces She's Pregnant with Their 3rd Baby During Funeral
Speaking at her late husband's memorial, Meredith Gaudreau announced she is nine weeks pregnant

Meredith Gaudreau, the widow of late NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, announced at his memorial service Monday that she is nine weeks pregnant with their third baby.
Gaudreau, 31, was killed alongside his brother Matthew Gaudreau, 29, on Aug. 29 when an alleged drunk driver crashed into them while they were riding their bikes along in Oldmans Township, New Jersey.
The Columbus Blue Jackets star and his wife Meredith shared two children together, daughter Noa, who turns 2 in October, and son Johnny, who is 7 months old.
During a memorial service for the Gaudreau brothers on Monday, Meredith announced that she is expecting another child with her late husband next year.
"John and I had the best six months as a family of four. These will forever be the best six months of my life," Meredith Gaudreau said, according to ABC News. "There's specifically one week that I will cherish forever — it will be my favorite week of my life out of those six months. We're actually a family of five. I'm in my ninth week of pregnancy with our third baby."

Meredith said her late husband "was beaming and so excited," according to ABC News. "His reaction was just immediately kissing me and hugging me,” she said, noting the pregnancy was a “total surprise” to them. The couple had just welcomed their second child, Johnny, in February.
"Noa, our oldest, hasn't even turned 2 yet,” Meredith said. “In less than three years of marriage, we've created a family of five. It doesn't even sound possible, but I look at it as the ultimate blessing. How lucky am I to be the mother of John's three babies? Our last one being a blessing and so special despite these difficult circumstances."
Matthew’s widow Madeline is also pregnant with their first child, named Tripp. A GoFundMe fundraiser was launched in support of Madeline and Tripp earlier this month, raising nearly $650,000 as of Monday.

Both Meredith and Madeline spoke at their husbands’ memorial service on Monday, according to The Associated Press. In addition to family, Johnny and Matthews’ current and former teammates were in attendance for the service at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Media, Penn., as well as NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.
“Everything was always John and Matty,” said Meredith, who recently marked her and Johnny's third wedding anniversary last Wednesday. “I know John would not have been able to live a day without his brother.”

When Madeline spoke, she pleaded for others to reconsider drinking and driving in the future. “I urge everyone to not drink and drive,” Madeline said, according to the AP. “Find a ride. Please don’t put another family through this torture.”
Sean M. Higgins, the alleged drunk driver, had attempted to pass another car when he fatally hit the Gaudreau brothers, New Jersey State Police told PEOPLE last month. Higgins was arrested and charged with two counts of death by auto and arrested.
Johnny and Matthew were in town to serve as groomsmen for their sister Katie’s wedding, set to take place the next day, which has been postponed.

Sandra Bullock's Longtime Partner Bryan Randall Dead at 57 After Private 3-Year Battle with ALS
Bryan Randall died on Saturday, his family announced in a statement
By Tommy McArdle and Julie Jordan Updated on August 8, 2023 09:49AM EDT
Sandra Bullock's longtime partner Bryan Randall died over the weekend, his family revealed in a statement to PEOPLE on Monday. He was 57.
"It is with great sadness that we share that on Aug. 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS," his family shared. "Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request."
"We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours," his family added.
"At this time we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan," the statement concluded, signed, "His Loving Family."

Sandra Bullock and Bryan Randall's Relationship Timeline
Bullock, 59, first met Randall, a model-turned-photographer, when he photographed her son Louis's birthday in January 2015. They took their relationship more public later that year, including an appearance at Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's wedding.

Bullock, who is mother to her son Louis, 13, and daughter Laila, 11, addressed the topic of marriage during a December 2021 appearance on Red Table Talk.
"I found the love of my life. We share two beautiful children— three children, [Randall's] older daughter. It's the best thing ever," Bullock said at the time.
"I don't wanna say do it like I do it, but I don't need a paper to be a devoted partner and devoted mother," she said, adding, "I don't need to be told to be ever present in the hardest of times. I don't need to be told to weather a storm with a good man."

Earlier in the same Red Table Talk episode, Bullock said that Randall is a great "example" to her children.
Sandra Bullock's Partner Bryan Randall Died of ALS: Here's What to Know About the Neurological Disease
"He's the example that I would want my children to have," the Bird Box star said. "I have a partner who's very Christian and there are two different ways of looking at things. I don't always agree with him, and he doesn't always agree with me. But he is an example even when I don't agree with him."
"I'm stubborn but sometimes I need to sit back and listen and go, 'You're saying it differently but we mean exactly the same thing,' " she said during the appearance. "It's hard to co-parent because I just want to do it myself."
In lieu of flowers, Randall’s family asks for donations to be made to the ALS Association and the Massachusetts General Hospital.

James Earl Jones, the iconic voice behind Star Wars‘ Darth Vader and The Lion King‘s Mufasa, has died. He was 93.
The star died on the morning of Monday, Sept. 9, at his home in Dutchess County, New York, his agent confirms to PEOPLE.
He is survived by his is son Flynn Earl Jones. His wife Cecilia Hart died in October 2016.
The actor's other memorable film roles came in Coming to America (1988), Field of Dreams (1989), The Sandlot (1993) and The Hunt for Red October (1990).
Jones discovered he had Type 2 Diabetes in the 1990s which he said was “quite by accident,” during an appearance on the Rachael Ray Show in 2016.
“Once I knew I had Type 2 Diabetes it was all about getting help from my family and my doctors,” he said. He launched a campaign “I Can Imagine,” which helps people take control of their diabetes.
Quiet Beginnings
Born in Arkabutla, Mississippi, James spent eight years of his childhood in silence because of a stutter. “I stuttered badly, and so I retreated and lived in a world of silence rather than speak,” the actor told a congressional panel in 2002. However, he eventually overcame it with the help of a teacher who, when Jones started writing poetry, encouraged him to read it aloud.
In his memoir Voices and Silences, Jones explained, “The written word is safe for the stutterer. The script is a sanctuary.”
Acting wasn’t always part of the plan for him. While at the University of Michigan, he studied pre-med and joined the Army, and once he finally landed on acting, he had to work as a janitor to make ends meet.

Although he’s reluctant to call it that, his big break was in the play The Great White Hope, which premiered in 1967, as Jack Jefferson, a role that earned him the Tony Award for best actor in 1969. When the play was adapted into a movie in 1970, Jones played the lead and his performance earned him a Golden Globe win and his first Academy Award nomination. He was the second black actor to receive an Oscar nomination after Sidney Poitier.
How James Earl Jones Conquered Stuttering
Throughout his career, the classically trained actor brought his low and authoritative voice to challenging like the eponymous tragic heroes in Shakespeare’s Othello and King Lear. His performances were notable because during this time, the 1960s, it was unusual for a black actor to take the lead in Shakespeare plays.
“If it bothers someone that I’m black and playing Lear, it isn’t because there’s something wrong with me. It’s their problem,” he told PEOPLE in 1974.
The Voice that Launched a Fandom
While British actor David Prowse was the man physically behind Darth Vader’s mask in the Star Wars films, it was Jones who brought menace to the character by voicing him in the original trilogy.

“I’m simply special effects,” Jones once told AFI, explaining that George Lucas wanted a “darker” voice in 1977’s Star Wars movie. “So, he hires a guy born in Mississippi, raised in Michigan, who stutters.”
“From all these so-called handicaps, I lucked out to get a job that paid me $7,000, and I thought that was good money,” he said. “It was great fun to be a part of that.”
After Star Wars, Jones married his second wife, Hart, in 1982, and the two welcomed their only child, Flynn, that same year. In 1987, he won his second Tony Award in 1987 for playing Troy Maxson, a retired baseball player having communication problems with his son, in August Wilson’s Fences.

Moving from film to TV and back to the stage, Jones has always referred to himself as a “journeyman actor.” In 1990, he won two Emmy Awards in the same year: one for lead actor in Gabriel’s Fire and another for outstanding supporting role in the miniseries Heat Wave.
He’s also racked up several other Primetime Emmy Award roles for guest starring roles in Everwood, Under One Roof, Picket Fences and Frasier.
In recent years, the actor has starred in productions of On Golden Pond, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Much Ado About Nothing, which also co-starred Vanessa Redgrave. In 2012, Jones earned his fourth Tony nomination for The Best Man.
He hasn’t been afraid to return to some of the voice roles that made him such an icon. He lent his voice to the role of Darth Vader in for the animated series Star Wars: Rebels and for 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
In 2018, the actor reprised his role of Mufasa for the live-action film The Lion King opposite Beyoncé and Donald Glover.
There’s a reason Jones’ career has spanned over 50 years: He loves it. “I’d like to play anything that gives me a chance to learn about people who are truly different from me,” he once told PEOPLE. “I want to say as much as possible about how I feel about myself — not my black self or my American self, but my real self.”

it sounds plausible if u trust people allegedly in the hierarchy.
but, if u ever need to contact medicare or medicaid, make sure u are the one whom is doing the calling.
ALERT SENIORS!!! .I just got MEDICARE SCAMMED!!
A lady who said she is from Medicare called me to verify
my Medicare information so that Medicare could mail
me the new plastic Medicare card to replace the paper one.
Hmmm....that sounded logical to me.
Still, I wa skeptical and asked her questions. She gave me her full name and government ID number to sound legitimate. She threw in the fear factor by
saying if she does not verify my information my Medicare
account will be voided and I will need to create a new account.
To "verify" my info she asked me to provide details on my card.
Full name, Medicare no., Part A and B, issuance date of card.
She also "needed" me to verify my birthdate.
Then she started asking about my blood pressure...when I questioned
about why she need that...she hung up!!!! I was scammed.
Called my insurance broker...he told me Medicare is not sending
out plastic Medicare cards. He told me to call 1 800 MEDICARE and
let them know what happened.
I called Medicare and they created a report of the incident and
advised me to check my Medicare bills to make sure there is
no false billing. If there is, to call 1 800 MEDICARE.
You know, being scammed is becoming more and more prevalent.
Even when you think your antenaes are up after 3 cups of coffee...lol.
So, remember, never give your Medicare number to anyone except
your doctor and health care providers.
A side note, let's stick together and report these scams on this site.
We are neighbors and need to protect eachother.
Have a blessed day.
Your neighbor, Liz
The paper one works just fine. its the number that is pertinent. If you feel a compelling need to get a new plastic medicare card which i am not even sure They have now, make sure u contact them. and if they sound scurvy, hang up and call again for another rep.
