WHAT A HORRIBLE WEEK!  

Our beloved Boxer dog was so sick, vomiting, and then after that, wouldn't eat...for three days. He would drink water, so that was ONE good thing. However, he is quite old. We finally got him in to see the Vet. 

We've always had Boxers or Rotts, and he's actually got a bit of Mastiff in him.  Sweetest dog ever. I was so upset.

We took him to the vet, and I really did think it was going to be "that time". But, we received a reprieve.  

I thought right off that it was cancer, etc.  But they said he has a very sensitive stomach.  We had gotten blood work done earlier, and had him checked, because he does drool, but they never found anything and Mastiffs drool A LOT. But he is just part Mastiff. So, the drooling was nausea and not all the time, just once in awhile. It was manageable with allergy meds and the vet told us we were doing the right thing.

But this time? Woah. This was awful. Scared me so much! This is a dog who LOVES to eat. 

They gave him some injections to help with dehydration, and his "tummy troubles", and some pills for us to give to him. He is much better and while he can't eat hard food right now (another thing we will be taking him to the vet for, but not a serious issue), we gave him some oatmeal in the morning and he ate all of it, and then later rice and chicken, and he gobbled it all up. Later tonight he will have more chicken or hamburger. The vet suggested that for now. He is no longer hungry. 

He LOVES going to the vet and was wagging his tail, enjoying every minute of it. He loves people. And today he is feeling SO much better!

I can breathe now. I lost five pounds over this whole thing.

Abigail , I am sorry for your Boxer . I have a dog as well and I wish your dog become well. There is so much bonding between us and our et. When my cocker is sick I feel sick as well . I can feel the way you feel about your dog .I will ray for him to become well.

I grew up in a home that always had at the very least one dog, and one cat.  I love animals, especially cats and dogs.  But this is the part that is just so hard.  

As I always tell others, at least our pets had a home where they were loved and treated well.  There are so many children who do not even have that. 

But it still hurts so much.

I had neighbors that had two boxers and every time I came out they would both run to me wagging those little tails.
One male and one female
The male died can't remember ATM why and the female just got so sad and mourned the loss of her companion .
It was so sad.

They were pure muscle......

I love their tails, Linville! And yes, pure muscle.

And yes, it's horrible when that happens. One dying and the other left. We've had that happen many times, and sometimes they just howl in their grief. So, we've always gotten another dog as soon as we could to ease their loss.  

They don't have the long snout many other dogs have, but they still make great watch dogs because they have a very strong jaw. Once they grab hold of something, they can hang on for as long as it takes. Woe to the burglar whose leg or arm ends up in a Boxer's mouth.
