Advice on late order

Have a subscription stuck at ISC only 60 miles from my house and it's now going on 12 days with no movement. Vendor says the PO has probably lost it and I should call them. If it was a...........toaster I would have no problem talking to them, but not so sure about this item. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. It's registered mail, so I'll probably need to sign for it. What would you do?
