VPN's best serve you by giving much protection logging into a server and are not so much for your own PC to be protected.....although that is true.
Cookie problems are over rated......by not accepting cookies you have to log-in to certain websites each time you visit......
Their biggest aggravation is the "limit" of the number of pages you can visit on any given website.....if you get a message that says you can't "see" any more pages......Find that URL cookie with your Web browser (preferences) and delete it....you will then be back to square one, and can then see more pages without registering or logging in......
And finally.....public proxies are free and available that hide your IP each and every time you use them......check out "Free Proxy Server" URL for simplicity and reliability in hiding your IP.........a very good way for the novice to protect him/herself....from revealing their IP address when visiting any web site.
