LOMOTIL
#7
I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents...

Lomotil is a "controlled substance" (schedule five I think?) in the US. Even though I've never known anyone to have a problem with anti-diarrheal addiction.  It's a combination of atropine and diphenoxylate. It is NOT the same as Immodium/loperamide, which is otc in the States. Zantac (ranitidine) is a medication for reflux (mainly). It's an H2 blocke (histimine blocker), more like Pepcid-- so sometimes people use it for hives. I HAVE seen it offered from iops, but not often. I guess I'd just keep checking. For some reason, US doctors hate to prescribe it. They like to say, "just use Immodium" but sometimes that just doesn't work. When my elderly (80s) mother used to need it occasionally, I'd alternate doses of lomotil and immodium to make it last longer. I'd just keep checking the vendors-- it's possible they don't list it because there isn't much demand. Good luck.
