Cutting edge help heard of for all dieases.
#11
Tough subject.  I will say that "Tums" will work for leg cramps in the night, very often.  It's--unless something more complicated is going on--usually a calcium or magnesium deficiency.  Calcium tabs--either type, with Vit. D for adsorption--and magnesium tabs work for me on a long-term basis.  It's nothing new, but a lot of people don't know about it.  The "Tums" just work fast.

"Cutting edge" suggestions fall into lots of categories from FDA-approved experimental trials to quacks, to FDA compromised quacks.  "Big Pharma" is the usually applied phrase for the pharmaceutical powers that be, and, doubtless they can, will, and do sometimes impede lots of would-be breakthroughs.  FDA is there to protect us, sometimes it sells out to Big Pharma.

"Burzynski The Movie: Is Stanislaw Burzynski a pioneering cancer researcher or a quack?"

used to be a movie on cancer breakthrough available on Utube, but no more as Discovery Channel claimed copyright.  The movie made a strong case for the method, using too much jargon, and too little sense.  The case went through court after court, but the FDA eventually succeeded in banning a few of the chemicals needed to replicate the work, so without that, no scientific acceptance.  But, as said, a layman's look at the criticisms of the "clinic' run by Burzyski left a lot of questions.

The history of medical acceptance of new ideas is like the history of any new idea in any discipline.  They don't like it.  The doctor who first suggested doctors should wash their hands between examinations was eventually laughed out of the field, this is a fact  Then throw in the power of the RX companies, and you get a whole 'nother level of resistance, and pure corruption sometimes.

Rev is right though, to bring up the subject.  Abigail Adams, wife of forefather John, had her kids inoculated with the chicken pox virus, taking a chance on a new idea that said inoculation would protect them from getting small pox.  Not many people supported her.  It worked, still does, in a more sophisticated form, but same idea.

There is an old classic movie starring a very young Alec Guinness.  I know most of you don't know who Alec Guinness is, but the movies is "The Man In The White Suiit."  A young, enterprising chemist develops a fabric that will never wear or tear, and wont allow dirt to adhere.  He made a suit of it.  Showed it off.  Before the end of the film nearly half of England was out to kill him, the textile factory owners, the workers, etc.  Same idea.

On the other hand the FDA only a few years back denied the use of  life prolonging cancer treatment to people who were terminal with the particular cancer, because the treatment had not finished all human trials.  The terminals objected and said they were gong to die anyway and had a right.  And they did, and that's just asinine.

I can only say what I've heard many of times from good docs.  It it's something like acupuncture, that doesn't have interactive possibilities, then it cant hurt to try.  If it's "Tums" you're probably in good shape.  It it's exotic, and to be ingested, you need to research and possible interactions with current meds.  If it's voodoo, or magic, or prayer, or chakral or chiropractic adjustment--as long as no animals are snuffed--for me, that's all o.k.

Six of one, half dozen of the other.

I have also heard that if you get a flu vaccine 5 yrs. in a row, it greatly enhances the chances of alzheimers. Not to mention the many other problems they can cause.
No flu shots for this bug. Can't remember when I last had one and I refused to let my mom get them while she was in the nursing home.

Hi Cricket and Fire,

"Greatly enhances" is I guess sort of the key.  I've taken them for about 7-8 years.  Used to get the flu fairly regular. Now I don't.   But I'm familiar with your objection and have heard it before.  I respect your decision.

oh, don't bother. it is way too long. i shall probably delete it shortly.

i don't do vaccinations anymore. when i first began researching autoimmunes, i found evidence that the polio vaccination brought on autoimmunes like MS. they did experiment on us.

i found my medical records of when i was young. my mother drank, the doctor was free (its an Irish thing to not pay for medical care of worth,) and my good sis and i got the polio vaccine 9 times each cuz she kept forgetting to bring us back to complete the series. 3 times we drank it live. 3 times we drank the dead virus. 3 times we got shots of live virus.

my good sis firmly believes autism (she works with special needs children, as do her 2 girls,) is brought on by vaccinations.

especially as i am not around many people, such as children, i don't get exposed to regular illness the last year or two.

no vaccines for me.

i was never a lover of food so i never took a tums. ever.

liked ur post spanky. intriguing info. at least to me.

But, I still believe that if one is concerned about alzheimers, then one is to use acquiring new knowledge daily as their weapon against it.

My parents took up opera singing, and we were taught to learn a new language. develop a new habit that uses ur mind. But, as it is not in my family, I have not researched it. I don't blame the victim.

Whereas my clan had so much serious illness my good sis's oncologist asked her if me mother and father were in fact brother and sister--ah, no, but thank u for that one, doctor--i do believe if one keeps their mind active, that brain tissues regenerate.

my son, the scientist has proven same when he did his masters. Not that one can defeat alz, but that the brain will regenerate constantly.

Sure hope that boy is correct. I believed it way before he did.

My doctor sister developed a simple product that would help women detect breast cancer more easily during self exam. Her co-developer was so terrified of the FDA he bowed out. The FDA would not allow it. Cause one would need to pay for fewer tests and fewer preliminary doctors? Dunno.

She knew certain cancers were contagious way before the medical field announced it. I also saw it in animal rescue.

But, i have always felt that "they" have the cures to cancer.

They don't give it to us. They make a fortune on the misery in our lives.

And, i detest the big business of drugs. My doctor sister was always offered apts on first and first ave, trips, money, to give out the new meds the companies came out with. At least she could not deal with gvt treating patients and stopped practice.

I see commercials for only like 2 medicines. They must cost a fortune. They are used for everything. One is Humira. For RA. But despite its hideous side effects, they say take it to rid ur face of acne. acne? when u can die?

the other is the one that arnold palmer does a commercial for. a drug like warfarin.

Its like snake oil has come back in the fold.

One medicine, that will cost u maybe even $700 a script, will cure all.

Balderdash.

I certainly think the way they teach doctors about western medicine is lacking. And I'd like the thread to bring hope about as many diseases as possible. I know many say prevention is your best bet, but so many are past that stage. I certainly don't cook in aluminum pans anymore, because of metal buildup in the body. I only use Pyrex glass.

ANY little tips or articles certainly couldn't hurt.
Charon, polio vaccine that many times? That is just crazy.

Excellent post Charon, don't delete it.  I love "balderdash", it's one of those poetic words that seems to sound like what it denotes.

"Big Pharma" is not one of the planks in any of the candidates; platforms.  Wall Street, and corporate oligarchy is the debate, maybe Big Pharma will be included in there somewhere, but don't hold your breath.

"Snake oil" cures proliferate when the exact causes of a disease are not known.  Daniel DaFoe--Robinson Crusoe--interviewed lots of people who were only a generation or two away from the last great plague for "Year Of The Plague".  There was a lands slide of cures from talismans, oils, exotic concoctions.  Alzhieimers, autism, cancer are still without a specific cause.  That is, simply, there is no consensus as to what causes a cell to go rogue, become a cancer cell.  I can remember when bad mothering was the given cause of autism--if all else fails, blame women.

Smoking became the reason of the day for cancer, no heft given to the fact that two generations of people smoked like steam engines without symptoms.  Just as marijuana was the gateway to hard drugs, now it's RX drugs.  My head and neck cancer has been suggested to have been caused by performing oral sex on Michael Douglas'  wife.  I'm sure I would have remembered that, ha.

Medicine is a work in progress--we hope.  But, TB has been mainly beaten, along with small pox and there is now treatment for the plague.  Things do seem to progress with the allopathic model of medicine, but it is in fact another box that excludes lots of better ideas.

All these maladies are yet to be pinned down with Western medicine.  Maybe they can't be, maybe they are caused by a conglomerate of modern life--though cancer goes as far back in history as history.

Makes me dizzy.  I like beer.  Excepting a distended gut, and excluding drinking to excess, I'll stick to that.  I'm out on this, enjoying the ideas, and discounting none.

It is true they don't know what causes anything. I have an investigative nature. I just prefer to try my best to figure out where some problems that showed in my family came from.

My father had migraines in his left eye. As did i. he used hair dye jet black with that stupid comb for men that was allegedly hair dye. Perhaps shoe polish. The cornea in his left eye totally disintegrated. No one knew why. But, i figured out that with every migraine he had, and they were daily, he used an ice pack. on his left eye. and it would become warm. wetten his hair. and that dye dripped into his left cornea. That was the only causitive possibility.

One of the cooler doctors I saw during the disability doctors, explained to me, that although my MRIs show a large hole in the base of the right ganglia, in my brain, they mark it as normal because they don't know what caused it. I do. It was a stroke. Its since been confirmed that yes, it could be reliable indicia of a stroke.

Okay, the profession has seemingly come light years in terms of dealing with certain cancers. Wiping out the plague.

I just knew too many of them to trust more than a handful of doctors.

Enjoy ur beer. Enough of that jabberwocky.

Oh, and in my own defense, I don't have a beer belly, that was just an example.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.

There are lots of folk remedies that work better than prescription stuff. Doctors won't tell you about them naturally. The media no longer does articles on stuff like that. Let me give a few, no cancer cures but perhaps prevention

For itching, try patchouli oil or even tea tree oil. Works a wonder, lasts for days usually
For arthritis, try glucosamine and chondroitin.
For nerve pain, try l glutamine. I use it and it works for me, may or may not work for the next person
For sinus congestion or problems, try neti. Another thing that works is peppermint oil. You don't eat it, put some on.

Main thing is eat right. No macdonalds, burger kink, wendy's, except perhaps on very rare occasions. Eat lots of veggies and some fruit every day. Take vitamins, minerals, herbs and spices. I haven't had a cold since 2000 and never get the flu shot. It has mercury in it and perhaps other bad things.

Its true as many have said, they have no interest in cures, only treatments and by an odd coincidence, they are always expensive. New treatments get shoved aside, our bought and paid for politicians put pharm industry hacks in charge of the fda and pass laws to hurt the public. Monsanto just got legal protection from the hundreds of millions of dollars in lawsuits it faces. It probably cost them a couple million to get the law passed to protect them. Who do the politicians work for? Not us.

I'm sure that Satan is the CEO of Monsanto. We have them to thank for many of our health problems. They seem to be out to harm us, not help us.

The FDA is NOT out to help us either. Who ever slips them the most $ gets their products approved, no matter if they are harmful or not.
