I'm a big fan of naps! Sometimes when I used to work at an office I'd have to go to my car and tilt the seat back so I could close my eyes for a few minutes. It always helped and I could get back to doing my job. I wish this was something that employers would make more accessible for their employees, to provide some area that they can lounge/nap in when needed. I don't always need one, but when I do I can barely keep my eyes open, let alone get work done. But then again I might have mild narcolepsy.

Hey Zobra,
I also wish that employers would consider that. Many employers in European countries give afternoon nap breaks. Kind of plays off the whole "siesta" thing. I have read only good things about the results. Higher employee production, less accidents, less sickness, etc.

If I can keep a nap to around 45 minutes, then it can be a lifesaver... otherwise, I just wake up groggy and it wrecks my sleep schedule for the night...

Hey Schmok, is it just a matter of messing up your sleep schedule, or do you also get any depression with that grogginess? Just wondering because I also get that groggy feeling from a nap, but it comes with a feeling of total apathy that makes it hard to push forward with the rest of the day. I just want to continue to nap and escape. I am always amazed when some else tells me that they come out of a nap in a good mood. I really shouldn't be amazed by that because that is how to majority of people feel.

Napping for me throws me off sleeping well at night so I try and avoid it.

Hi Folks,
Just my experience with naps.........
I nap daily as I usually get about 4-5 hours sleep per night. More often than not I have the time for 30 minutes (sometimes 1 hour) to konk out and upon awakening I'm ready to rock n roll. Head clarity is significantly better, and drive to get some work done increased as well. Sometimes I feel groggy but I've narrowed it down to overall lack of sleep in general. One thing though, if I get 7 hours of sleep I still feel the need for a nap! Days off work, If I get into a slump and catch myself sleeping too long I break out the god old alarm clock, as I hate waking up wondering what day it is!?!??!

You know, I’ve had both reactions to naps. Sometimes I feel refreshed, like my body desperately needed sleep and it got what it needed. Other times, I still feel tired and draggy for the rest of the day. Either way, oftentimes when it’s time for bed, I’m inevitably (and irritatingly) awake. I have a hard time shutting my brain off at night and relaxing.

I love naps. I have such sleep issues and often (every night) need to take something to sleep. So for those rare times I nap on a whim unaided, I’m so happy.

If I nap at all I get insomnia. This wasn't always the case, growing up in Latin America we would take a siesta in the afternoon and sleep very little at night.
The only time I've found a nap useful is if I've pulled an all nighter and only have a little bit of time before I'm due at work or something. 45mins-1hour and I wake up feeling amazin
