Incredibly enough, I have had a positive experience with propanalol. 20mg takes away my anxiety for a bit and has allowed me to lower benzo use by far. I am taking 40 or 60mg propanalol a day and haven’t needed a daytime benzo since starting. I was shocked that this would be so helpful.

If you have been scripted bez0s, the next time you see your doc mention Inderal. They are much more eager to prescribe this than any bzo. I have a stockpile of them as my doc usually will prescribe K's and Inderal. I should use them more, instead of relying on b's, but I'm sure glad I have a more than adequate supply in case of an emergency. All the previous posts I agree with 100% I like thePianest method and I think it may become part of my regimen.

Good thread here. Never heard of Propanalol for anxiety.
Looks like many have had good results ( just keep the side effects in mind ). Seems to be one of those which has many purposes
and several good outcomes.

This is something I might have to look into. I am doing well at sticking to my rule about benzos (only if absolutely necessary) so something that does a similar job but without the habit forming thing would be good.

I have heard of propanalol being used in some rehab/substance abuse facilities to offset the anxiety of withdrawal.

I was scripted this months ago. Unfortunately it did nothing for me but it was a lower dose, maybe my next visit I will request it in a higher dosage as this is one my provider has no issues writing.

I have been on a few other betas before but they also did not help.

Beta blockers always help against anxiety, maybe the one better then the other. Smile

beta blockers help me with occasional anxiety, such as having to give speeches or doing things that terrify me,,, like giving speeches in front of hundreds of people. My doctor gave me this just for that reason, so I use this when necessary.
