I think it varies. I good friend was on it for about a year at a high dose for it's antidepressant qualities (so 2 or 3 times what you'd have for sleep). He's the slimmest man I know and he put on about 4 or 5 lbs, but then got it under control. I think it took a bit of messing around to hit the right dose, but he used mirtazapine for over a year after struggling with the addictive side of z-drugs. But I appreciate your concern. Weight gain can be an issue, but I think people tend to post the horror stories.

Did it have an effect on libido?

Sorry, I don't know. It didn't come up (so to speak).

well theres actually nothing that comes to benzo unless your willing to go pk route which is another addiction on top, that said theres one drug with 100% guaranteed knock out effect, and its natural, yes u guessed its w@@d, you could be on dosage to knock horse out on benzos, but 0.10g -20 good spliff will knock you into lala land in no time.

now sourcing legalities is your own matter to research, and its not discussed here, but thats the only one of top of my head with lets say minimal to no side effects comparing to all the synthetics and z drugs.

but does work wonders on appetite and falling asleep without any try.

I wish it helped me fall alseep.  I get relaxed and even drowsy sometimes depending on the type, but in my experience I still don't fall/stay asleep.

Kanna is a good sleep aid when made in a tea. Mix it with damiana, skullcap and hemp, it will put you to sleep for a good 12-16 hours. Also check out kava, that may help. I really like herbals, if you guys want I can make a thread about them.

well i guess herb works differently for everyone i never used it much in life so whenever did its lights out eventually.

on a joke note seen someone posted online article from old newspaper how to sleep like a soldier it was called, basically you need to wake up at 5am, do 5 mile trek, do breakfast and again go for a jog 10 miles also having bag with load is better, now come afternoon its brake time do 100 push ups, followed by pull ups. and for evening repeat 7 mile run/trek, do it for a week and youll drop dead by the end of the day if not any time you got left during the day Big Grin

heard of kanna not sure about its legality status but would be interesting to hear of its properties or experiences.

It never helped me. I tried different strains, oils, edibles. Never knocked me out. In fact I only smoked that stuff with the hope that it would help me sleep but it didn't. Do you have any idea as to how I can use it to sleep?

MJ affects people differently, and it doesn't help everyone with sleep. For some people it makes sleep worse.

If you haven't tried taking plain CBD, that might be worth trying. But MJ is definitely not a wonder drug for sleep.

I was on low dose of seroquel and it was pretty effective. I stopped taking it because it would make me have this uncomfortable feeling before making me sleep. But my sister in law swares by it.

Benzo user for many years but I always find that taking magnesium right before bed induces a pleasant, long lasting sleep. Not strong by any means but worth bearing in mind to possibly take in conjunction with other things. Especially as many people are deficient.
