i always stuck with ableton live 4, was so user friendly - was into my music years ago, then lately out of interest got the latest one (live 8) and its COMPLETELY different, cant wrap my head around it at all
always used goldwave for my editing also, its freeware as far as im aware

Sounds like you're experiencing what i had when upgrading both cubase and Reason,its like starting all over again,workflow almost stops.

honestly....ive been recording music for years...started out with Acid Pro 4.0 which handled all my needs from 8th grade up until now lol were talking 2001....up until now.

I use acid pro 6.0 now but i keep it simple...being into hip hop and r&b i usually deal with an instrumental and vocals. Easy Peazy. Was just seeing what everyone else is into.
