Good morning folks. I hope everyone is facing Monday with as much resignation as is available!

Fire, I am absolutely certain it is quite normal not to know the date if you aren't working - and depending on what you do for a living, sometimes when you are. I nearly always have to check the newspaper, unless a nearby date has been important for some reason. Definitely not dementia yet.

Now what was I saying?

Harley, I read in the paper this morning that despite it being traditional for women to be able to ask men to marry them on the 29th Feb, this new liberty is taken up by very few. There was also a tradition, starting in 1780, for Leap Year parties to be held, during which a woman could ask a man to dance rather than just wait for him to come to her. It was also not a popular freedom. What this says about us, I do not know - perhaps that we've got better things to do with our extra day!

Ice, I hope you have kept to the non-smoking over the weekend and that the cravings are getting easier to bear. There comes a point when cigarette smoke starts smelling nasty, when you have given up for long enough, and then, the first puff of a cigarette tastes and feels pretty grim. From then on, it does get easier. I speak as someone who, idiotically, gave up twice (well, the idiotic bit was taking it up again after giving up the first time!)

Anyway, I hope everyone has an enjoyable, pain and anxiety-free Leap Year day today. Hi to Roses, Willie, Zander, Revolution, Insomnia Sucks, Boomer, Jimbo, Charon, Audrey, Jade and anyone I have missed.

Since it's a Monday I'll use it in the example.

Did you know that at 23:30 tonight (MONDAY night) in Niue (an island NE of New Zealand).....It will be 00:30 on WEDNESDAY morning in Samoa (an island NW of Niue)
So there is a period of time where one island hasn't started Tuesday and one has completed Tuesday.
Both are inhabited (by humans)
