Good Morning Everyone!

It's a beautiful sunny morning here & it will be 55 degrees today. We might hit 70 over the weekend.

Today I am working for my dad. He has 19 white pine trees in 2 gallon containers that I will be planting. I decided to only work 2 hours planting them so that I don't mess up my back & hands. I am not sure how long it will take to get them all planted, it might take me a couple of days to finish.

All my best to Rose5555, Linville. Fireplaces, Willie, Charon, Ice, Revolution, Harley, Audrey, Zander, Popster, Insomnia Sucks, B2G, KidA & to anyone else I haven't mentioned.

I am hoping everyone has a good day with your pain & anxiety under control.

You are wise, Roses - Years ago my wife had me plant 25 Leland Cypresses in two-gallon buckets to give us some privacy on the one side of our home that is next to another home, and some privacy from the street view into our back yard (which backs up on state forest), and I decided that as long as I had enough cold beer on hand I could get them all planted in one day.  Oh, the aches and pains for days after!

And now of course, those trees are 40 feet tall, and the shade from them is killing the neighbor's grass in a 4-foot wide strip, so I'm going to have to start paying someone to come out any top them at least once a year - They grow amazingly fast, and sink their roots deep, so I guess they've become a bother now.

Very wise to limit your labors to two hours, you'll thank yourself for it tomorrow!

Yet another Kipling quote to replace the last one for my sig line...My leisure time reading is mostly Texas history and Military history in general (Dead Carl Philipp Gottfried (or Gottlieb) von Clausewitz and long dead Sun Tzu were beaten into my head at BNCOC, the army's basic NCO course, so I don't keep them in the house, much less touch them in passing), and I don't limit it to just historical tomes and research, but enjoy a lot of historical fiction in those areas as well - But a small stack of Kipling's works are permanent fixtures on my nightstand, his prose, while often based on military subjects (I will no doubt read "The Charge of the Light Brigade" thousands more times before I turn my toes up to the daisies), flows so naturally and is punctuated with such wisdom that I can't think of anything better to read in the 30 minutes or so I'm waiting to get to sleep.

My sig line will probably change often, but it will always be something from Kipling - And please, don't anyone infer that a particular sig line is directed at them, they are just artifacts of what I read the night before that stuck with me until morning.

Best,

Good morning Roses
Sounds like a good plan to decide how long to work before you start
Something I should start doing too

I always take too long planting things working and amending the soil and watering the dirt before the plant roots touch so if you get all that done in two days well good for you
I do think I could as slow as I am but I have fun and that counts , grins

Be careful and don't over do it Roses

Sorry to hear about your discs and heart attack B2G! I had read somewhere else on this site that you had problems with your discs but never knew you had had a major heart attack. Can't imagine how that must have been. If you don't mind me asking, do you know what caused it? - feel free to not answer.

I did what I said I would yesterday (air con off, portable heater on, window open) and I got a solid 7 hours. No coughing up crap or blowing my nose all night.
So, ok the air con is dodgy but I found the perfect way around it Smile

As for my sore legs, that's my own fault, I should have had 1 or 2 rest days between my runs, but I didn't so today walking is sore.

You guys (and girls- 'guys' means both sexes to me) are too nice Smile

Oh, how I envy you that you can still run, Insomnia_Sucks - I ran 5 miles every morning, rain or shine, before the discs in my back degenerated from old injuries, and then had a heart attack (a fairly major one that left me with pulmonary hypertension), so I'm limited to short walks outside when the weather is good, and 30 minutes walking on ye olde treadmill on days like today.  I remember that soreness well - Actually miss it sometimes!

Really sorry to hear about your heart attack, B2G. I can't imagine how scary that must have been - well, I guess it would scare me, I would feel that my body had betrayed me in a major way.  I'm sorry you can't take more vigorous exercise any more but very glad you still have the capacity to go for pleasant walks - and look after those chicks, of course. The back injuries also sound very trying - I for one always underestimated my back until the first time it let me down. Stuck on the sofa unable to get off without pain, I was the perfect vision of vulnerability and I have never made the mistake of underestimating it again.
Hope your back improves and that you get more mobile as the days progress.

I_S, Fireplaces, Rose555, thank you for your concern - It is very much appreciated, but quite unnecessary :-)

I woke up one morning barely able to breathe, it felt like there was an elephant sitting on my chest.  No other side effects such as numbness or shooting pains in my arms or legs, but I couldn't get enough air in my lungs to summon the energy to sit up.  My wife and I sleep in separate bedrooms (because I'm a snoring monster), she's upstairs and I'm in the basement, so I was lucky I keep my cell phone right next to me every night (never know when I'll be called in to work).  I was able to use the cell phone to dial 911, which scared my wife to death, as you might imagine, she had no idea what was going on in my room, and it was 5AM, and up roll a fire truck, an ambulance, and a police car, their occupants banging on the door.

The EMTs couldn't figure out how to best stabilize me other than to put me on oxygen, and the ER doctor kept me on that while he did an angiogram and blood work.  He seemed both surprised and interested at the results - My cholesterol (LDL and HDL) were right in the normal range, there were no blockages in my coronary arteries, yet 1/4 of the right side of my heart was covered with scar tissue, indicating I had had a heart attack some time ago and never noticed it. He brought in a cardiac specialist to confer, and what they found after seemingly endless tests was that the heart attack itself was at least three years in the past, based on the scar tissue, but they did eventually narrow down the cause of it - What I have is pulmonary hypertension, a type of high blood pressure that affects arteries in the lungs and the right side of the heart.

Shortness of breath, dizziness, and chest pressure are symptoms.

The condition worsens over time, it does not improve, but medications and oxygen therapy help lessen symptoms and improve quality of life.  Not to "woe is me" or create drama where none is necessary, but the condition is almost certainly going to ensure I don't live to a ripe old age...Which is why I carry so much bloody expensive life insurance on myself as well as sock everything possible into the 401K and make extra payments against the principal on our mortgage...If the worst happens, our house will be paid off, and my wife will have an annuity established that will actually pay her more on a monthly basis than I make now - Plus, she won't have any bills...All of the plastic is in my name, so she can just sent them a death certificate and voila - Debt free, home paid for, and an annuity that will take care of her for more years than she likely has remaining, which will split into three smaller annuity accounts (one for each of our kids) when Thanatos comes for her.

And as Forrest Gump might say, "That's all I have to say about that".

Best,

Excellent post in every way.
Obviously I'm not saying your condition is excellent but how you have faced it head on AND set your SO up for life, if the worst case scenario happens, is very admirable!
