The Music Thread
Not to get too political or to chap anyone that doesn't appreciate hip-hop like some others like myself do, but I'm currently enamored with the unlikely pairing of the artist "supergroup" duo, Run the Jewels (consisting of indie hip-hop producer and MC, EL-P, founder of Def Jux Records out of Brooklyn, and Killer Mike from Atlanta, who is also a part of the Dungeon Family collective, which includes Outkast, Cee-Lo and Goodie Mob). These two are bridging two completely different styles of rap, much of it in a usual hip-hop braggadocio fashion and/or in jest, but a ton of it is very politically charged featuring guests like Zack de la Rocha from Rage Against the Machine making intense statements. Apologies if you're on the opposite side of this political viewpoint....seriously!

This new track and video by legendary "turntablist" and producer, DJ Shadow featuring Run the Jewels called "Nobody Speak" is a banger. The other video underneath "Nobody Speak" is an amazing interview by Killer Mike regarding activism and addressing some of the controversial police brutality that has been uber-prevalent of late (IMO), and what some view has been happening forever. If anything it makes you stop and think.

DESCRIPTION OF "NOBODY SPEAK":

Says DJ Shadow: "We wanted to make a positive, life-affirming video that captures politicians at their election-year best. We got this instead.”

Says Run The Jewels’ Killer Mike: "It's such a dope video. It's what I really wish Trump and Hillary would just do and get it over with...And even in that fight I think Hillary would win - and that's not an endorsement."

Here's that interview I was talking about featuring Killer Mike:

Random musings via modern day prophet, M McConaughey:
"Alright Alright Alright."
"I've been driving a Lincoln since long before anybody paid me to drive one."
"It'd be a lot cooler if you did."

This is an amazing one. Saw them in NJ a few years back when they did their festival. Frustrating day so I am in "Seek and Destroy" mode. Nothing to be worried about obviously Wink

The best! Thom does it for me every time. Jury is still out on Atoms for Peace his newer project, but I can jive with it on certain days. Thanks for sharing!
