May we find joy in what we have here and now.
Give us patience in our struggles.

Ecclesiastes 5 : 11-20

11 When goods increase,
they are increased that eat them:
and what good is there to the owners thereof,
saving the beholding of them with their eyes?
12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet,
whether he eat little or much:
but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.
13 There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun,
namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.
14 But those riches perish by evil travail:
and he begetteth a son,
and there is nothing in his hand.
15 As he came forth of his mother's womb,
naked shall he return to go as he came,
and shall take nothing of his labour,
which he may carry away in his hand.
16 And this also is a sore evil,
that in all points as he came,
so shall he go:
and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?
17 All his days also he eateth in darkness,
and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.
18 Behold that which I have seen:
it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink,
and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh
under the sun all the days of his life,
which God giveth him:
for it is his portion.
19 Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth,
and hath given him power to eat thereof,
and to take his portion,
and to rejoice in his labour;
this is the gift of God.
20 For he shall not much remember the days of his life;
because God answereth him in the joy of his heart.

Today's Prayer...

Lord God, our Father in heaven,

We turn to you in these times when we are under so much
stress and temptation.
Let your light glow in our hearts to give us firmness, patience,
and perseverance throughout the time of testing,
no matter how long it lasts.
Your hand can change everything.
Your hand can shorten the time we must wait until your light shines
out of the darkness of death and evil,
until your light reveals your life to your children and to the whole world.
You are our God and Father as you have promised,
and remaining at your side,
we look to you in faith and trust.
You will bring about goodness, justice, and mercy
as you have promised,
and so fulfill your will.

In the Name of the Most Holy we
pray in Jesus' Name

Psalm 91

You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
Say to the Lord, My refuge and fortress
my God in in whom I trust.

God will resccue you from the fowler's snare,
from the destoying plague,
Will shelter you with pinions,
spread wings that you may take refuge
God's faithulness is a protecting shield.

You shall not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by day

Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness
Nor the plague that ravages at noon
Though a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, near you it shall not come.

You need simply watch, the punishment of the wicked you will see.
You have the Lord for your refuge

You have made the Most High your stronghold

For God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways

With their hands they shall support you lest you strike your foot against a stone.

You shall tread upon the asp and the viper, trample the lion and the dragon

Whoever clings to me I will deliver, whoever knows my name I will set on high

All who call upon me I will answer, I will be with them in distress, I will deliver them and give them honor.

No evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent

*I am sorry i had to type that out and i did repeat a verse. However, the Word of God does not return void. It is good to hear a glorious line twice.*

Psalm 4

Answer when I call, my saving God, in my troubles you cleared a way; show me favor, hear my prayers.

How long will you people mock my honor, love what is sorthless, chase after lies?

Know the Lord works wonders for the faithful the Lord hears when i call out.

Tremble and do not sin upon your beds ponder in silence

Offer fitting sacrifice and trust in the Lord

Many say, May we see better times! Lord, show us the light of your face

But you have given my heart more joy than they have when grain and wine abound
In peace I shall both lie down and sleep, for you alone Lord, make me secure.

Psalm 12
Prayer against Evil Tongues

Help Lord for no one loyal remains
The faithful have vanished from the human race
Those who tell lies to one another speak with deceiving lips and a double heart.

May the Lord cut off all deceiving lips and every boastful tongue
Those who say, "By our tongues we prevail; When our lips speak, whom can lord it over us?"

Because they rob the weak and the needy groan,

I will now arise says the Lord
I will grant safety to whoever longs for it.

The promises of the Lord are sure,
silver refined in a crucible
silver purified seven times

Lord, protect us always
preserve us from this generation

On every side the wicked strut
The shameless are extolled by all.

Revelation 3 : 15-22

15 I know thy works,
that thou art neither cold nor hot:
I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm,
and neither cold nor hot,
I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest,
I am rich, and increased with goods,
and have need of nothing;
and knowest not that thou art wretched,
and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire,
that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment,
that thou mayest be clothed,
and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear;
and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve,
that thou mayest see.
19 As many as I love,
I rebuke and chasten:
be zealous therefore,
and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
if any man hear my voice,
and open the door,
I will come in to him,
and will sup with him,
and he with me.
21 To him that overcometh
will I grant to sit with me in my throne,
even as I also overcame,
and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22 He that hath an ear,
let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches..

Lord our God,

We thank you for allowing us to come to you
and to stand before your face.
We thank you for helping us throughout our life on earth,
for strengthening our faith in you and our trust in all you do.
Bless us and give us courage.
May your light shine out among the peoples
so that they recognize your will.
May your light shine out so that your name may be praised
and we can rejoice in the new time you give us.
For you will be at work and you will accomplish it.
Even when we do not know what will become of our time,
you know what our time needs,
and you will carry out your will.
You will let your name be honored.
You will bring your kingdom,
and you will change everything for the good.

and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Great God and Savior,

You want to lead us by the hand so that in communion with you
we learn how to live a true life.
We thank you for everything we have already received.
Guide us still, we pray.
Through your Spirit lead us in all areas of our life.
Grant us the Spirit,
who can illumine our hearts to help us find new courage
and new strength and new recognition of the truth.
All our praise belongs to you, for you alone can quicken us.
You alone free us from the pain of death and from all burdens,
so that in spite of toil and struggle we may always be lifted up to you,
our God on high,
to the glory of your name on earth.
