usps already takes photos of every piece of mial: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mail_Isola...d_Tracking

it probably wouldn't be too dificult to use the information for mass survailence or whatever. But I don't really think the govt has the resources or intention to go after IOPs. In the recent healthcare debate both Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders, the far right and far left, agreed that americans pay way too much for prescriptions and should be able to purchase them from overseas.

Will definitely keep an eye on this, but the government has been watching the mail for years, if hour mail heavy duty drugs they have other ways to detect them, dogs, computers, scanners, and so on. Plus we know how fast the government works, could be a while.

My sense is that the key word in the proposed 2016 & 2017 legislation is "package" (parcel). The focus will likely be on the interdiction of parcels of international origin which enter the USPS system. The USPS certainly does not have the financial resources to waste on generating documentation/tracking of every mail item that enters their system for use by US Customs during the inspection process.
Where would the $$ come from in order to support such a program when the current administration implements their promised massive tax cuts? After paying down his debts to the Russians, Trump has most likely earmarked the remaining budget for general maintenance at Mar a Lago, and for cleaning infected rat piss from the basement of Trump Tower.

The $ would come from the usual areas, social security cuts, medicare/aid cuts, snap program, all the usual right wing boogeyman. Also it would happen after the top 10% get tax cuts.
Cannot mention which country I think I may be having these problems receiving my shipments, I can tell you this I have had both things get to the local PO and never gets to my door.

It is a famous tale from a few years back. One package was nailed. The vendor reshipped. Then, reshipped again. And L3 showed up at his door with three packages.

That is why many of us wait to receive first order before we place another, no matter how hard it is for us.

Good luck! This does not mean you are being watched. It is also luck of the draw.

But, as Fire mentioned, just chill out in re: ordering until u receive first package or two.

You will be safer and we shall feel safer for you.

Interesting article. Logistically, the amount of shipments being sent would be a nightmare for a proposed bill since it will require "funding" and add on top of that a congress that wants to cut funding versus spending. What concerns me more is databases and security based shipment research. Gods protection to all of us.

Just to reassure everyone, I looked up these bills to see whats going on with them. Two bills: Senate -  S.372; House -HR.1057.

Exact language of bills attempt:

A bill to amend the Tariff Act of 1930 to ensure that merchandise arriving through the mail shall be subject to review by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and to require the provision of advance electronic information on shipments of mail to U.S. Customs and Border Protection and for other purposes.

These bills have been introduced and sent to committees on 2/14.  (Usually the kiss of death) .Smile

Thank you all for the responses.  I am not going to order anymore things from that country, at least for a period why take chances and worry about possibilities.

I would not worry at all about ordering here. Nothing has happened with this bill, and while I have NO IDEA if it even affects us - I still feel EMS (as a private company) is specifically excluded.

Regardless of what bills are passed or not. The risk is always there. Some packages just don't make it and others cruise right through. I personally have never had one nabbed (knock on wood) . But you hear the story echoed throughout the interweb. We all take an inherent risk ordering online. It's just the nature of the world we live in. If a sender is flagged you'll see a big chime in of seized packages hit the web. They normally switch tactics since they don't want to lose customers. Best thing you can do is find someone with a good reship policy and be honest about lost orders.
