i would shop one day for the school year. we took hours. thank god, he could wear clothes from kidsrus.

i hope it went well for u, miss kitty.

and, to all the rest, have glorious days. enjoy those years with ur teens. moody or not. (but, i never raised a daughter. i see how the girls, my nieces, keep my good sis under control with malls, and a cell phone for texting. argh.)

and, we would do anything to get to live just one day with our kids so young again.

so, try to enjoin. u will remember this fondly when she is older. (if u survived.)

I would guess that those of us whom are or were great parents, are all rather "fuddy duddy."

No, girls are not taught how to sit properly anymore.

Geeze Louise, it was part of a girl scout merit badge I earned. Kinda a mini finishing school.

We learned manners. And, how to sit properly.

Plus, the nuns had schooled us well. No patent leather shoes for school cuz the boys mite look up our skirts.

I always say, that I never got to have my girl.

But, man, I kinda think they are so much more difficult to raise.

Man, as a mother, and as someone whom sees legal cases or crime targetting girls or women whom dress scantily, I would beg any daughter to not be that way. I know we all learned that rape is not a sexual crime. That it does not matter what the female or male is wearing. It is a crime of power. Sadism.

I was young and we wore short skirts after I stopped wearing a uniform.

But, I broke the dress code in High School for the right to wear elephant bell bottom pants. Told I would be expelled, so I hadda do it.

No expulsion.

But, we cannot lock our kids up until they reach thirty yrs old yet, can we?

Good luck, moms of girls. I am sure your girls will be fine.

But I sure hate that trend.

Not to take away from levity in this thread, but for those whom lost loved ones, on 9/11, and for our heroes whom died so young later: May God be with the families and the heroes of 9/11.

It is always a sad day in New York--today.

I salute all our heroes, here and gone, and, their families.

Charon,  I am so glad you have mentioned this!

I join in with you feeling the same way.

I too salute the heroes of New York on that day.....and give my empathy towards those families that lost loved ones in those attacks.

9/11 never forget.
