2004: Eric Clapton bought a 50% share in Cordings to prevent closure of the London gentleman’s outfitters where he had been a shopper since he was 16.
2003: Aerosmith and Kiss kicked off their co-headlining tour dubbed the Rocksimus Maximus Tour in Hartford, CT. This was Kiss’ first tour with Tommy Thayer playing guitar and wearing Ace Frehley’s makeup and costume. The tour went on to gross $64 million.
1986: Genesis peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 Album Chart with Invisible Touch which went on to sell six million copies which was their highest selling album in the U.S.
1980: Deep Purple reached the top of the U.K. Album Chart for the third time with their compilation album Deepest Purple which spent one week at number one.
1975: The Eagles reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for the second time with “One of These Nights” which spent one week on top.
1971: Creedence Clearwater Revival kicked off their final North American tour at the Assembly Center in Tulsa, OK.
1969: Badfinger recorded their debut single “Come and Get It” which was written by Paul McCartney. The song went on to reach number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
1969: Bob Dylan and his wife showed up unannounced at Dylan’s ten year high school reunion in Hibbing, MN. They would leave early when a drunk tried to pick a fight with Dylan.
1962: Robert Zimmerman legally changed his name to Bob Dylan.
