Always a big fan of ELO. They didn't have the impact that, say, "The Band" did when the put out "Music From Big Pink", which for a time lleft the British musical invaders shaking their heads. But ELOs frinzied introduction of classical themes was amazingly innovative, and course Jeff Lynn later produced the "Willburys" with has his touch all of that groups work. There's still good rock out there--mainly in "alt.country." But, a lot of it's real imitative, producer hog-tied stuff.

The construction of tall buildings has become so commonplace in cities around the globe that the general public gives little thought to the visionaries responsible for creating a city’s unique skyline.
Skyscraper day provides the opportunity to learn more about the architects who commit a dream to paper and the construction crews that make it reality.
Whoever it was that first considered placing dwellings on top of each other instead of side- by-side would be astounded at how modern buildings literally seem to touch the sky. What they may also find interesting is the status that is often attached to living or working at the highest level.
Although this analogy is obvious there is another to be drawn from the consequences of a power failure. These are just a few aspects to ponder on a day that is set aside to reflect on man’s apparent conquest of upper space.

Welsh Rarebit Day
!(https://foodimentaryguy.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/stuartwebster-blogspot-com.jpg)
Famous all over Europe, Welsh Rarebit is a distant cousin to cheese on toast, made with a cheese and ale sauce, and Welsh Rarebit Day celebrates this famous dish.
Nobody’s quite sure of the origin of the name, but it’s generally believed to be a jest at the expense of the early poor of Wales, who may largely have subsisted on rabbit and ale (though how this relates back to cheese on toast, we’re not sure).

Wildlife Day
!(http://static.wixstatic.com/media/7ee089_49b644884fc9410a8fda6baf65568de0.jpg)
Every year we lose numerous species to the growth and expansion of human holdings, but through the effort of zoos, sanctuaries, and preservation organizations that rate is being slowed. These groups do amazing work, educating and bringing awareness to people everywhere, all while preserving these precious treasures from Mother Nature.
Wildlife Day reminds us that there are creatures out there that cannot speak for themselves, so we have to stand up and be a voice for them. The animals will thank you for it, as will the generations to come who will still be able to enjoy them!
History of Wildlife Day
In September of 2006, the world suffered a terrible loss. Steve Irwin, known colloquially as “The Crocodile Hunter”, died in an encounter with a sting ray that went horribly awry. These normally docile and peaceful creatures pack a powerful punch in their tail, and instead of swimming away as Steve expected, it instead attacked him with its stinger. After hundreds of strikes, Steve believed he had sustained only a punctured lung, but the stinger had actually managed to pierce his heart causing him to bleed out. So passed an amazing man from the world.
What does this have to do with Wildlife Day?
Steve Irwin was an expert on animals, and spent much of his career working to bring attention to endangered species and aid conservation. In his honor National Wildlife Day reminds us that the animals of the world are a precious resource, and of the many zoos, sanctuaries, conservatories, and organizations that work together every year to help preserve them for future generations. If we don’t start taking care of them now, we’re going to lose them.
Once an animal has gone extinct, they’re lost forever to future generations, it’s our responsibility not to let that happen.
And
Pet Rock Day

Hallowe’en can be a traumatic time for pets. Between the parties, costumes and bombardment of trick or treaters, the non-human components of your family can find themselves a little stressed out, which is one of the reasons to spend the days leading up to Hallowe’en comforting and reassuring them.
Thank goodness, then, for Pet Rock Day, offering the perfect opportunity to pamper and spoil the special stone in your life.
Launched in the 1970s by advertising executive Gary Dahl, the pet rock was an antithesis to those living pets in need of regular care. It did, however, come with a mean “attack” mode. For a mere $3.95 people could adopt their very own rock, supplied on a bed of hay in an well- ventilated box. Like all things, pet rocks are more expensive these days, but you could always catch a wild one for free – just remember that undomesticated rocks may be more difficult to handle…

International Day of Charity
!(http://inspiria.edu.in/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/internationa-day-of-charity.jpg)
Every year, charities all over the world help to save and improve people’s lives, fighting disease, protecting children, and giving hope to many thousands of people.
To honour the important work that these many charities do, in 2012 the United Nations decided to nominate an annual International Day of Charity as an official day of recognition and celebration.
The reason the date was chosen is because it is the anniversary of the death of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. This choice commemorates the tireless work that Mother Teresa did by devoting her whole life to charity work.
To celebrate this special day every year, the work of different charities all over the word is publicised and celebrated, and people are encouraged to donate money and time, to carry out charitable works, and also to educate people and raise awareness about the many charitable issues worldwide. Education and giving are the essence of this special day.
And
Cheese Pizza Day
!(http://gunaxin.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Cheese-Pizza.jpg)
Although we are all fond of piling toppings onto our favourite pizzas, the humble cheese pizza is celebrated with Cheese Pizza Day. It is estimated that there are more than 70,000 pizzerias across the United States, demonstrating how pizza has been adopted into the national psyche.
Bizarrely, pizza – especially a basic cheese pizza – was regarded by its Italian inventors as a food for the lower classes who could not afford the luxury of meats.
The ingredients are cheap, requiring just flour, yeast and water to make a basic dough, with toppings often being picked from local trees and made from local milk.
Whether you’re a fan of a deep dish from Chicago, or prefer the more authentic Italian thin base pizza, now you have an excuse to indulge!
If you really want to spoil yourself, head down to Pizza Luis XIII restaurant in Salerno, Italy, where the world’s most expensive pizza has been created – costing $12,0000...
